    Description

The colony is still recovering from its war with the Vemus, but now they face a new threat. Something is causing a major upheaval among the creatures of New Earth, and the Colonial Defense Force is in trouble.

A new discovery sheds light on what happened to the alien race that inhabited New Earth, and their fate may affect whether the colony survives. As the scientists race to unravel the mystery, hordes of super-predators are rushing toward colonial settlements, and Connor must find a way to stop them before all is lost!

Sanctuary is the fourth book in the First Colony military space opera series.

This series is really good, but this book is weak!

The previous books are great stories with meaningful content. This, by comparison, is a very weak effort. Feels like a very short story artificially spread out over a much greater area.

    What happened?

I was REALLY enjoying this series...until this book. No spoilers, just be aware ...drags on without ever really accomplishing anything.

Should have stopped at book 3

The first 3 books were fantastic. Hearing them take Connor from a total badass to a babysitter and making a total 180 from the first 3 books characters is sad. They might have lost me for good in this series.

    Too many cliche's.

Reads like a movie script as opposed to a novel. Way too many cliche's in there. Very predictable, and the boring antagonists are a massive downgrade from the Vemus.

Wish it ended on book 3.

I liked the first three books, but this one was terrible. Conor becomes a different person and is verbally abused throughout. The author tries to say that he is exactly like a childish, immature, idiotic character. It just doesn't make sense. Conor was in the military special ops. He is a man that understands risks, orders, and the situation before him. The new character Dash just doesn't, but Conor's girlfriend who is always somehow right says so, so end of discussion. I really hated her and his infatuation with her makes little sense since other than being pretty she has no redeeming qualities. if you remember the last book where she gets drunk and rages about firing the cannon and how they needed to fight back and kind of screws up morale and the plans, you might understand. That is her. She is always right. Even when she is wrong.

The Ryklar are back and our characters forget everything about them. Only a few know about them being able to hide from infared. Most people forgot they are smart and can set up traps. You remember those weird signal that made them attack the base? Well let's just trigger some and go investigate the base. For people investigating the ruins they have just forgotten everything. Characters make dumb choices.

I don't recommend this book and will not continue the series.

"And DASH! I just wanted him to die"

"And DASH! I just wanted him to die" the quote is from an other review and I couldn't agree more. The book over all was a complete let down from the 1st 3. Dash and his band of whinny little brats do nothing but put the lives of other in danger for the entire book and never get a clue!

Barely okay book and awesome narration..

I can see where all the complaints came from about this book. If the book hadn’t been in my iPad I would have thrown it across the room every time Lenora opened her mouth. Good grief, she was so irritating. And in the first 3 books I loved Connor but in this one he was such a wuss. And DASH! I just wanted him to die, but he was a MC so that wasn’t going to happen.

I have no idea what KL had in mind when he wrote this book but it will be a miracle if I finish it. I’m at 68% and I’m so tired of Connor, Lenora and Dash. The Ryklars should kill them all. (Okay, that was a little harsh.)

Anyway, I did finish it and it was barely okay, not anywhere as good as the first three books.
It really isn’t even worth telling you about the story.

No sex and no swearing to speak of.

As to the narration: Scott Aiello did a fantastic job on all four books.

Young adults put discoveries over lives of fellow

Dash, a young explorer disobeys warnings of treacherous animals hunting humans and goes into danger with disregard of authority. Dash's boss making excuses for dash who just stole a vehicle and provisions to go explore with others he talked into disregarding Defense Force orderes to stay home.
Now Connor is the bad guy for trying to enforce warnings and restrictions.
Dash's boss also not accepting responsibility dumps the blame in Connors lap.
Hard to keep reading this as it sounds like two parents disagreeing on how to raise a stubborn child.

    WOW! I love this series.

I have been reading the First Colony series from Genesis on. I just finished book seven. In all the books I am eagerly awaiting the next paragraph. Mr. Ken Lozito is an incredible author and I am so very glad that he bailed on the IT security gig. His art is writing. God has blessed this man with a wife and children but also with the ability to take the reader away in an awesome journey. I believe that Mr. Lozito will be writing for many many years and I look forward to the next book.
