Description

Ryan Hall is an Olympic athlete and American record holder in the half marathon (59:43). But as a kid, Ryan hated running. He wanted nothing to do with the sport until one day, he felt compelled to run the 15 miles around his neighborhood lake. He was hooked.

Starting that day, Ryan felt a God-given purpose in running. He knew he could, and would, race with the best runners in the world and that his talent was a gift to serve others. These two truths launched Ryan's 20-year athletic career and guided him through epic failures and exceptional breakthroughs to competing at the highest level.

Along the way, Ryan learned how to focus on his purpose and say no to distractions, to select and strive for the right goals - goals for the heart as well as the body. With God's guidance and millions of miles pounded out on the track, Ryan discovered secrets to dealing with defeat and disappointment, enduring immense pain, building resilience, and ultimately, running as if you've already won.

Now a coach, speaker, and nonprofit partner, Ryan shares the powerful faith behind his athletic achievements and the lessons he learned that helped him push past limits, make space for relationships that enrich life on and off the running trails, and cultivate a positive mind-set.

Journey with Ryan as he reflects on the joys and trials of the running life and discover for yourself the power of a life devoted to your God-given purpose.

Way better than expected.

To be honest, I only bought this book because Ryan Hall wrote it. It was truly a great book. Mostly it is for the Christian Runner, but still a book anyone could love.
My two negatives on the book is that it is very short, and it should have a pdf concurrent reading with it. He has so many passages he references that there is no way to remember all of them. I listen while I run, so no way to write them down for later.

Inspiring Book

Inspiring book. The last couple chapters were kind of boring but overall a good book that I would recommend listening to.

Fabulous!

Wonderful, honest, and spiritually uplifting! Not only did I love it because I’m a runner, but the truths in this book can be applied to any circumstances we have in life. One of the best books I’ve listened to! Now I need to purchase the actual book so I can mark it up and remember the inspiring quotes.

Exceptional!

This book has some deep rooted lessons in faith that really hit home. I think it is more about the important lessons in being connected with your heavenly father than it is running. The running stories are great to experience from Ryan's point of view as well.

Enjoyed it; inspiring

Inspiring book about the authors running career and more importantly spiritual journey. Ryan explains how he became closer to God through running, and how focusing on God Gabe him the freedom to run his best race both spiritually and physically. Overall an inspiring book for runners and specifically runners interested in the faith/meditation aspect of running.

One of the best books.

I bought the audio book and I absolutely loved this book. It’s such a blessing to hear a story about this young mans life being a elite athlete and he’s given his life to the Lord. I’m so inspired by Ryan’s story I’m sighing up for my first half marathon. Thank you Ryan for your faith and inspiration. God bless you and your family.

Inspriring

As a Runner and a Christian, this was the book I needed! The timing was perfect. I love Ryan’s heart for Jesus, his admitted shortcomings and how he deals with them, and his daily search to hear God’s direction.

Not too deep, but plenty of good nuggets

This book is a great balance of spiritual guidance and running advice. A perfect listen while running book. I didn’t find it to be very deep spiritually, but was a perfect light source of encouragement.

My first Marathon

I’m training for my first marathon and this was the kind of book I needed to hear! I keep hearing “your body type isn’t meant to be a long distance runner. You’re training for a marathon? You should focus on 5-10k’s. I’m 5’ 11” and 175 lbs. Been focusing on what my mind is prepped for, not my body. Thanks Ryan
