Through this personal account of the infamous years of the Japanese occupation, the post-war student unrest in Malaysia, the struggle between the Sarawak Communist Party and the British colonial government, the ebb and flow of the Sarawak Communist Movement, the Anti-rightist Movement of China, and a host of other movements in that historical period, one begins to understand the pangs and solace they stir in the heart of the author.
