Silas isn’t the hero people sing about.

He’s a sorcerer, though most people would not stand so close if they understood what that meant. Quiet hands. Quiet voice. Too much power held too tightly behind his ribs. For twenty-eight years, Silas has survived by keeping the door inside himself shut.

That gets harder once the road starts calling.

It begins with a bounty. Silas and his crew expect thieves, raiders, maybe a few bodies in the mud. They’ve handled worse. Ash is an archer with a ranger’s eye. Magnus is a warrior built for shield work and broken gates. Torm is a dwarf with a fast axe and a filthy mouth. Kira is a foxling with sharp instincts, sharper teeth, and more shapes than most enemies are ready for. Aerin is a dark elf who moves through shadow. Drax is a dragon with ancient pride, silver eyes, and no patience for being treated like a pet.

Then the villages start emptying.

Doors left open. Meals left uneaten. Livestock waiting in pens. There are no bodies, only silence. Crows gather on rooftops and road signs. Strange marks appear on wells and gates. People walk east with torn feet and blank eyes, whispering that the path is open.

The farther the crew follows the road, the less it feels like a road at all. It leads through old magic, ruined towns, storm-black water, corpse fields, and places where the dead do not stay buried. Something is calling from the east, patient enough to wait and old enough to know fear.

Silas may be powerful enough to face what waits at the end of that road, but power has never been his problem. The danger is control.

Every fight cracks the door wider. Every loss puts another hand on the latch. The people beside him give him a reason to keep holding back, and one day, they may give him a reason to stop.

Raventhorn: The Hollow Road is dark fantasy with brutal magic, undead horror, dragon fire, gallows humor, and misfits who become a family because the world keeps trying to kill them first.
