THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER FROM THE AUTHOR OF THE MARTIAN • Soon to be a major motion picture starring Ryan Gosling, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, with a screenplay by Drew Goddard

Winner of the 2022 Audie Awards' Audiobook of the Year

Number-One Audible and New York Times Audio Best Seller

More than two million audiobooks sold

A lone astronaut must save the earth from disaster in this incredible new science-based thriller from the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Martian.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish.

Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it.

All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, he realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Alone on this tiny ship that's been cobbled together by every government and space agency on the planet and hurled into the depths of space, it's up to him to conquer an extinction-level threat to our species.

And thanks to an unexpected ally, he just might have a chance.

Part scientific mystery, part dazzling interstellar journey, Project Hail Mary is a tale of discovery, speculation, and survival to rival The Martian - while taking us to places it never dreamed of going.

I'm so emotional now that I've finished the book...
What a marvelous piece it was !!
The writing is quite amazing. So witty and smart that is is hard to paise and wait for the next chapter. And when read by this narrator OH MY it becomes a wonderful story. I laughed so hard (out loud most of the time), I cried so much overcome with emotions too. Even better than THE MARTIAN, how is that even possible ?!

    WHAT A MASTERPIECE!!!

Wer schon " The Martian" kennt und schätzt wird auch vom "Project Hail Mary" begeistert sein.
Auch die Umsetzung als Hörbuch ist gut gelungen!

Voll auf dem Niveau von "The Martian"

We listened to this story in the car over several trips. We are a physicist and psychologist and we thoroughly liked the way the story was told and the story is both funny and captivating. It is science fiction but the physics is no bullshit! Very well done!

    fascinating story

I really enjoyed this book, both for the story and the experience. I’m not going to pretend I understood all the science but I still got really into the story. But most of all, I absolutely loved the narration, well done!!

    Fantastic narration

I absolutely adored this book, I was hooked almost from the very start and I did not expect to feel such a roller coaster of emotions. There is such a good production value. Ray Porter is a wonderfully talented narrator! Really 10/10 experience.

Good story, full of "sciencing the sh** out of things", in the way Andy Weir has gotten us used to from his previous book. We can tell its been well researched, even if there are some inconsistencies here and there, mostly when mentioning evolution mechanisms (also math and science can be hard to follow when just heard and not read/written). Many critics can be made, for instance regarding the clichés with the Russian, but overall I enjoyed the story and the main character. Regarding the performance, Ray Porter has a soothing voice and is a good actor, giving the audio book a real plus. However I felt his rendition of some accents and female voices was a bit over top. But I feel he followed the intentions of the author very well, and that's what counts the most. Would recommend for any Sci-fi enthusiast, or actually anyone that wants to see how science can help you in case you wake up from a coma in deep space.

Good story and good acting. Would recommend!

Another masterpiece of real-science-based fiction after Martian. A real gems especially for engineers, but also anyone put off by the ridiculous and unnecessary lack of realism of typical space novels. Finally a space story that a scientist can like and relate to, and not pretend to not-see all the nonsense.

There is obviously a bit of additional drama, some unnecessary risk and a bit too optimistic solutions. But the general plot is convincing and extremely engaging. One of the great aspects is discovering the world as-it-could-be when some of the dogmas were redefined and new tools available - with new possibilities, but also new problems we are not ready for.

The story is uncovered in a very cool way and read perfectly. I believe the technical level is perfectly adapted for those having at least a little interest in science. Most events and vocabulary are well explained, so it's clear what happened. On the other hand, the explanations are not invasive, and often interlaced with situational jokes and character life-events so it's bearable for those more advanced.

A cherry on top is how the author leads us to discover what happens next by supplying more and more precise hints, which makes listening kind of 'interactive' and even a challenging. Can you come up what will go wrong? or how to fix it? Of course you can just go with the flow and let it be revealed to you.

A fiction that actually involves science

It was very entertaining!. Mix of adventures, space and science :)

I totally loved the narrator, he really brought live to the reading !!!

I’ve been looking for excuses to listen to my book instead of talking to people🤪!
