Description

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Past Tense by Lee Child.

From number one best seller Lee Child, the thrilling new blockbuster featuring hero Jack Reacher.

Reacher, the eternal drifter, happens by chance on the small New Hampshire town he remembers his father was supposed to have come from. But when he starts looking for his dad's old home, he finds there's no record of anyone named Reacher ever having lived there.

Not the best Timbre to read a good story.

The story is a classic Reacher story, it keeps being fun and exciting and entertaining throughout the entire book. There are some plot twists , one more predictable than the other. Jeff Harding has a good voice and reliable does great voices for the different characters, and perfectly keeps track of who's who, never slipping up in the conversations. Which is great! But he has a singing timbre that gets annoying, later you get used to it, and than you find it annoying again. I wouldn't call it a deal-breaker, but if another reader is present, I think I'll prefer them over Jeff Harding.

Can't believe the other reviews this story got!

I really enjoy the Jack Reacher books but this one - while not awful - shows a lack of imagination and any real twist. The story goes along, builds some possible real interesting threads that could make for a good ending but ends plainly and without tieing all the threads together in any creative way. Read to say you have read all the Reacher books, but not for a really good story.

Not keen

Like Jack Reacher books. Not keen on this reading style. Too forced for me. Need another narrator maybe

Very disappointing!

As a dedicated Reacher follower, I was really surprised to find a book that I didn't enjoy. The storyline was weak and full of padding which added nothing to the plot.
It felt like the book had been put together because it was expected by Reacher devotees.
Even Jeff Harding's unique narration style, which I normally enjoy, seemed to grate a bit.
The constant short staccato sentences ending in the same tone began to become annoying. It is obvious that Jeff has matched his delivery to the punchy short sentence style that Lee Child uses.
In this book there seemed to be an overuse of the descriptive style that Lee employs.
I will buy the next book in the hope that this one was just an aberration.

brilliantly crafted .

worth waiting for. Reacher never disappoints even as he is aging, he just uses his accumulated knowledge a lot more effectively

Finally a new and great Jack Reacher book

This story begins with a incredible stupid or gullible Canadian couple who gets tricked into being prisoners at a hotel in the woods. The story unwind and it gets more and more intriguing by the pages. I think this is a great Jack Reacher story, among the top 10 in my opinion. The story wound me up in a great way. Jack Reacher is as always good, smart and predictable but in a good way. The narrator is fantastic (good to get rid of D..ddd..dick Hill). Thank you Lee Child!

Vintage Jack Goes Way Way Back.

Good yarn to listen to over a coffee and stack of pancakes while waiting for your next move. Same deal as usual, just another set of unpredictable roads.

Worst Reacher book to date

I have read all of the Jack Reacher books and so far, no complaints. However, this one was slow and boring with no real direction. I feel like Lee Childs has run out of ideas for the Reacher character. I was glad when this read came to an end. It's a shame, i have been a huge fan of Lee Childs. Hopefully the next Reacher book is not as disappointing as this one was.

fine as ever, disappointed by the new narrator

pity that mr. harding keeps using the same melody, always going up at the end of a sentence. very distracting when throughout the entire book each and every phrase is put like a question. nevertheless, i did enjoy him imitating various characters. he does a great job making his voice sound very much like any given person - old, female, agitated, foreign...
thank you.
