    Description

GOODREADS AUTHOR OF THE YEAR NOMINEE, 2012

    Too hot to handle....

Tabitha Allen grew up in the thick of Chaos—the Chaos Motorcycle Club, that is. Her father is Chaos' leader, and the club has always had her back. But one rider was different from the start. When Tabby was running wild, Shy Cage was there. When tragedy tore her life apart, he helped her piece it back together. And now, Tabby's thinking about much more than friendship....

Tabby is everything Shy's ever wanted, but everything he thinks he can't have. She's beautiful, smart, and as his friend's daughter, untouchable. Shy never expected more than friendship, so when Tabby indicates she wants more—much more—he feels like the luckiest man alive. But even lucky men can crash and burn....

    Could have been better

I've eaten up quite a few books by Kristen Ashley (including this one) so I knew what to expect -- over the top biker dudes and their old ladies, the DRAMA, the language, the crazy, the sex. Ashley is an enormously popular author for good reason. She knows how to deliver the whole package.

So I'm wondering why this plum package was entrusted to a newbie narrator. Sigh. Angela Starling is no better than adequate. Specifically, she doesn't differentiate at all between characters; all her men sound just alike as do all her women. No. No. No. Her male voices are not masculine. Smooth-talking hero Shy is read in a staccato monotone. No. No. no. Ashley's books are decidedly hero-centric and a narrator who fails to get that is not up to the challenge. Sad for the wasted opportunity.

    Motor cycle Alpha Hotness.......

It took me a little while to adapt to the biker lingo but once I did I was hooked! I'm warning you that you need to keep an open mind. This writer is bringing you into this biker world which means they have their own language. Lets just say they express themselves differently. The plot kept me interested. In a way, it reminded me of the show Sons of Anarchy. This biker club is about loyalty and family. Shy & Tabby are some serious hotness!! Shy is all Alpha but deep down has a sweet side. They took forever to show their true feelings for each other but worth it when the story ends with an HEA! This book had tragedy, comradery, passion, badassness, and heartfelt moments. I happened to like the book and found all the characters interesting. I will continue with the series.

    Swoon-worthy Biker Bad Boys

Another brilliant listen by Kristen Ashley. I love her biker bad boys and this one was at the top of my list with alpha male hotness. In this book we have the biker princess Tabby (daughter of the MC’s president) and swoon-worthy Shy (the biker club brother). They’ve both been secretly in love with each for some time but tragedy brings them together in a most unexpected way. This of course leads to lots of steamy sex and a HEA. I loved seeing characters from previous books; Tack, Tyra, Tex, Mitch, Hawk, Lee and the very fabulous Elvira! I love the Chaos MC! Come on Audible, bring us Motorcycle Man please!

Even though this is not her first book, it could still be read as a stand-alone. I will warn you that Kristen Ashley has a very unique writing style and not all appreciate her stiff dialogue or run on sentences. I for one love it.

    5 star listen!

This may very well be an excellent book...

What would have made Own the Wind better?

But I have no idea, because it sounds like it's being read by Siri. It's unlistenable. The premise sounds like a book that I might have enjoyed, but the reader sounds like a robot. Seriously? I'm so disappointed that I spent money on this...

What could Kristen Ashley have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    Find a better reader...

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Angela Starling?

Anyone. Literally anyone else. She sounds like a lifeless robot.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I have no idea. For all I know it could have been my favorite book of all time, but I can't listen to something that sounds like it's being read by a lifeless robot. I really hope Kristen Ashley didn't actually pay Angela Starling to ruin her book.

    Any additional comments?

I really wanted to enjoy this book. And look, and I'm not in the habit of leaving unkind reviews, in fact this might be the first and only bad review I've ever left. But Angela Starling, and I'm sure she's a kind and lovely person in real life, completely butchered the reading of this book, to the point that it's actually unlistenable. I cannot and will not listen to an audobook that sounds like it's being read by Siri. No no no. Sorry, I'm sure Kristen Ashley put a lot of time and effort and heart into this, but I couldn't get though the first two minutes and that's just sad.

OH, PLEASE PLEASE.... CAN'T I GIVE IT MORE STARS

Firstly, although I haven't listened to them, this Biker series should follow the Dream Man Series and had I of known this I would definitely have listened to those first as characters etc., were mentioned that had me a bit lost. But nevertheless, and despite this, it was an AWESOME listen.

Shy, a swoon-worthy sex God and babe magnet from the Chaos MC has had enough of all his brothers looking after the beautiful, smart and untouchable Tabby, the daughter of Chaos' President, and teaches her the hard harsh lessons of life that will, unfortunately, come back to haunt him one day. Tabby has had a crush on Shy since she was 16 but now at 19, he shocks her and rocks her world so much that she changes, settles down and is finally happy that is..... until tragedy strikes.

This very touching, gripping, emotional, passionate, sad, sexy, heartbreaking and riveting listen spans 3 years in the lives of bikers their friends and lovers and it takes a very talented author to transport you into becoming a willing bystander as all the exciting drama, loveable characters, brilliant dialogue and vivid imagery captivates, enthrals and entertains you.

Worth a credit? It's a romantic story of growth, forgiveness, acceptance and love where the scenes will have you sympathising, sighing, clapping, crying and eventually grinning and smiling - so a credit very well spent.

    Ah.. Ma.... ZING!!!!!! Simply Amazing!!!!

WOW WOW WOW! I was so not expecting this. This book was so dang good, I took off work early to finish listening. That bad review that say the narrator was not good... was dead wrong. You can totally tell males from females and none of the characters sound alike. Now you can tell when the narrator recorded it, then went back later and re-recorded a part... but it is such a slight shift in volume, that it doesn't even take away from the story.

I like how this book starts... The prologue, which is like 2 chapters long, is read from Shy's POV. Shy is such a bad-to-the-bone...biker boss! He maintains his total badassness the entire book long. When I say the entire book, the entire. I loved it. This writer stayed so true to her characters.. ALL of the THEM...! I loved it when Shy and his brothers, totally kicked Tab's boss butt. That is what bikers do... Then the scene when Shy is face to face with the guy that murder his parents. See.. this is what I am talking about. THis is how you write a biker story.. Shy was not playing around... he was Chaos through and through... then OMG.. then chapter when the brothers asked for his cut (his colors) OMG!!! OMG!!

Now... Tab or Tabby, so after the prologue, the book is read from Tab's POV, but other characters are POV are read in third person. This is such an interesting way of writing... I loved it. So, Tabby is the princess of the mc, and I love how she got out of the life, without ever really leaving, then her relationship with Shy...so great from beginning to end. But the ultimate angst is when she saw Shy with his girl... OMG! Then when she decides to leave... DUDE! The way Shy comes over and tells her that she is not leaving... I was blushing, gushing and just wrapped all up in it. Sooo Good..

THis is like a beginning to end life story for these two characters. Great ending too. So much action, I never wanted to skipped...just a straight through listen. It is long, really long...but so worth it.

Narration was awesome. I don't usually give 5, unless a book blows me away, and this blew me away. I have been hunting for biker books for the last 2 days.

A buy or credit. Yes Yes...

    4.5 Own the Wind Stars

Ok so I have been putting off this series because well I didn't want to have any new Kristen Ashley books left to read… Yeah I know I am crazy. >:-p

So I cracked open the seal and I loved it. Tabby and Shy are awesome.
I will admit there was more drama in this book then I was expecting but oddly I enjoyed it.

I am on the fence about MC books I know! Right, sometimes I love em sometimes I don’t. I think for me what I like about this one was the brotherhood of the club but that they weren't on top of each other all the time.

Like they were cool to let their brothers do their own thing but if they needed each other they are there for them.

I also really liked that Tabby wasn't a hanger on, does that make sense. Sure her dad is President but her life wasn't the MC, she has a good job and had a rough early childhood and adult hood. Until Shy, swoon.

I wasn't a fan of the narrator, kinda bummed at how robotic Shy’s voice was. Over all it wasn't terrible but not sure I would listen again. Eye read sure but not Ear read this again.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

    More Kristen Ashley!

What did you love best about Own the Wind?

Kristen Ashley 's story though it helps to have read the earlier books in this series.

What did you like best about this story?

I was looking forward to reading Tabby's story.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

This was the weakest part. Very little distinction between characters. Little emotion. Not like a true professional reader where you are not distracted by the reading of the story.

    Any additional comments?

I hope that there will be more Kristen Ashley books on audible. I really don't like it when they start in the middle of a series. Hopefully audible will improve the narrator and offer Ashley 's complete series including Rock Chicks, 'Burg series, Colorado series, Dream Man series, and Unfinished Heroes.

    Need new narrator

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

All Kristen Ashley books are awesome but not narrated like this!!!

What didn’t you like about Angela Starling’s performance?

No distinction between male characters and she yelled each line of male dialogue. I get these are alpha male bikers, but there is no way they speak to each to each other (and everyone else) like that all the time. It kinda made me hate Shy. (I've read this book before and didn't feel that way.) And Tyra is from Ohio, she doesn't have a southern accent. The narration frustrated me so much, that I couldn't finish listening, and I love Kristen Ashley books. This is not a reflection on the story, just the narration.

    Pleasantly Surprised

I wasn't sure if I would like this book but I am so thankful I took a chance. It's edgy, flows well and I absolutely loved the interaction between Taby and Shy. I will say there is quite a bit of testosterone in this book and if you are not into dominate men this may not be the book for you; however I loved the men. I especially loved that Taby doesn't let Shy run all over her.

I will definitely be recommending this book to friends.
