John Harmon, the heir to the Harmon estate discovers that his father's will requires him to marry Bella Wilfer, a woman whom he's never met, in order to claim his inheritance. Dickens' final book warns of the corrupting effects of money and ambition, set among the high society of Victorian London. It is full of colorful characters and exciting plot twists. Strangely, the original manuscript of this book had to be rescued from the remains of a train crash in which Dickens was involved.
