Sorrow can't catch you if you're riding fast enough . . .

Welcome to Pony, Wyoming, a dust bowl town way out west. Thirty miles east lies the Sheehan ranch, their neighbours the Mooneys just over the fence line. In 1936, sixteen-year-old August Sheehan falls for George Mooney. But when she finally lets him into her bed, she wakes up with a gun in her face. Though it feels like an ending, it's only the start . . .

Through twelve decades and six generations, the ties that bind these families will be tested time and again. From a rodeo star who steals his best friend's girl, to two young women, close as sisters, running their ranches side by side, to a hired hand on a dude ranch selling the authentic cowboy experience. And then beyond, to a future where two lonely searchers find love as the dust storms close in around them.

As profound as it is profane, One Trick Pony is a modern-day Western by a modern-day cowgirl. Playful, sexy and exhilirating, it will break your heart over and over again.
