A shadow has fallen across Raymara. The beasts have been captured, but danger still draws closer with each passing day. The companions are scattered; some simply try to survive while others strive to fulfill the prophecy of keys before it's too late.
As Lorian and Finriel attempt to reunite with the other companions while running from the Red King's men, they bump into some old friends while also fighting against secret unresolved feelings. They learn of Aeden's coronation; their friend turned enemy, gaining a crown taken from a dead man. Tedric must deal with the repercussions of breaking the peace law: a curse now living inside of him until his last breath. The broken commander returns to Keadora, only to find his old life has gone forever, and his new reality is far from desired. He and Aeden must navigate through their broken hearts, though mending such a thing is never easy, especially not when in such close quarters.
As the coronation approaches, the companions are drawn together by fate, each learning more about the ever-growing darkness and threat of war. The keys are still stuck in the game, and things only get more interesting as the true evil behind Raymara's closing in destruction is revealed.
