    Description

One of the most tense, gripping thrillers you will ever read. From UK and US bestselling author Taylor Adams.

A KIDNAPPED LITTLE GIRL LOCKED IN A STRANGER'S VAN. NO HELP FOR MILES. WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Darby Thorne is a college student stranded by a blizzard at a highway rest stop in the middle of nowhere. She’s on the way home to see her sick mother. She’ll have to spend the night in the rest stop with four complete strangers. Then she stumbles across a little girl locked inside one of their parked cars.

There is no cell phone reception, no telephone, no way out because of the snow, and she doesn’t know which one of the other travelers is the kidnapper.

Who is the little girl? Why has she been taken? And how can Darby save her?

Full of shocking twists and turns, this beautifully written novel will have you on the edge of your seat.

    I’m surprised

I followed all the advice of my fellow readers because they said it was a quick and thrilling ride. They were telling the truth! I kept waiting to be disappointed and stop the book, but it kept my attention for the few days it took me to finish it! Really really impressed and satisfied. I do t want to give anything away but if you listen to as many books as I do you Long for the ones that stand out. Thank you Taylor Adams!

    Hard to put down

This book was better than I was expecting. In fact I loved it. Liked the premise and the characters. The narrator does a pretty good job as well. This would make a great scary movie

Holy crap I thought it would never end

So it was a good story and the narrator was great but good grief. You know those movies where you think it’s done, but suddenly something goes wrong, and when that’s done you think- ok now it’s done, but no, there’s more- literally about 500 more things. I finished it just because I wanted to know the very end but I did skip some after a while. So incredibly drawn out. Soooooooooooo drawn out.

I did an "exit" before this book ended.....

What disappointed you about No Exit?

Slow-paced and many of the details were just too unrealistic. A young kidnapped girl is left alone in an unheated car in the middle of a frigid snowstorm. When she is discovered she isn't even shivering?? How can that happen? The way she was discovered was also not plausible. I was unwilling to finish this book so I cannot comment on the ending.

What does Sarah Naughton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Sarah Naughton's narration was excellent.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    The narration was excellent.

    Booklady

Annoyingly written; great story BUT heroine spends way too much time inside her own head, castigating herself over and over. This would have been a first-rate story if the author had a stronger editor.

    OMG Excellent!!!

I loved this book. It reminded me of Dean Koontz book intensity. This book has the momentum of a giant boulder sceaming down a hillside. it just keeps coming faster and faster right towards you until you just want to scream. Don't hesitate on this one if you want a wild, terrifying thrill ride

Mediocre story brought down by atrocious writing

I really struggled to finish No Exit. On one hand, the more violent the story got, the more I managed to pay attention if only to wonder how on Earth Darby was gonna get herself out of this predicament.

but on the other, I really think No Exit has the most terrible writing I've encountered in quite some time, and I'm really not a stickler for these things usually.

The problem with the writing style is hard to describe, but I think I've found a way to adequately do so.

You know how at the start of a TV show's season, there's generally a recap of prior events that takes a minute or so to make sure you didn't forget anything crucial before starting?

Imagine this in a book, and imagine it happening literally every 5 minutes, through repetitive descriptions, repetitive inner monologues, just repetition after repetition after painful repetition. The book drags and drags on because of this. It might go something like this:

"Suddenly, [NAME] entered the bathroom. The killer was in the room with them now. The killer, who had killed [NAME], was now only a few feet away from them."

Not exaggerating, this is the way the ENTIRE book is written. seriously Taylor Adams, we get it, [NAME] has heavy breathing. I don't know why this breathing is described in detail dozens upon dozens of times throughout the book because WE GET IT. MOVE ON.

Overall, by the end of the story, I didn't give a single crap about any of the one dimensional characters and found the entire thing to be a huge waste of time that feels like double its actual running time. But the narrator was pretty decent for Darby, even though a couple other characters were voiced in a way I'd characterize as... strange... but passable.

Either way, there are plenty of good mystery books out there. don't waste your time and credits on this.

    No Exit

This audiobook started out with a poem which my book did not have… There was a lot of missing words or letters or things or re-phrased in the audiobook… Which threw me off when I followed along. It’s a great book and they did a great job changing voices for the characters… but it was missing key points… Like towards the end they forgot to write the word kidnapper on the message she wrote on her hand. Which was an important fact. If I was not reading my book and following along, I would’ve not known this.

The audio book did not match with the paper copy!

I like to read along with audio books and it was frustrating that the times, locations and sometimes overall paragraphs of the book were different! But other than that the book was amazing!

    Talk about a thriller.....

this is one you won't want to put down. Fast paced and furious. Snow bound in a reststop, on a deserted highway, in the company of kidnappers, killers....who can you trust? Is there anyone?? This one will keep you guessing, and holding your breath.
