Histoire
In Truly Madly Guilty, Liane Moriarty takes on the foundations of our lives: marriage, sex, parenthood, and friendship. She shows how guilt can expose the fault lines in the most seemingly strong relationships, how what we don't say can be more powerful than what we do, and how sometimes it is the most innocent of moments that can do the greatest harm.

In Shaker Heights, a placid, progressive suburb of Cleveland, everything is meticulously planned - from the layout of the winding roads to the colours of the houses to the successful lives its residents will go on to lead.

Tara Westover was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she prepared for the end of the world by stockpiling home-canned peaches. In the summer she stewed herbs for her mother, a midwife and healer, and in the winter she salvaged in her father's junkyard. Her father forbade hospitals, so Tara never saw a doctor or nurse. Gashes and concussions, even burns from explosions, were all treated at home with herbalism. Then, lacking any formal education, Tara began to educate herself. Her quest for knowledge transformed her.

The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

Horriblement long, sans aucun intérêt

I liked her previous books and if you did too I strongly recommend you avoid this one. It got one star because chapters 60 to 80 are are a nice llisten. But getting there was toooooo long and soooooo boring... However, it did help me fall asleep, hence an extra star...

Let down
I have loved all of Liane Moriarty’s other books. I was really excited about this one but it’s a total shift from her normal gripping storytelling, It dragged on and was hard to follow. The characters weren’t at all relatable and the wild accent of the narrator was distracting. It was an interesting premise and some of the plot lines had value, but overall this book can be skipped.

So disappointing, and I’m usually a big fan
If you’ve just discovered this author, don’t start with this book 🙈, she has written so many better stories! (I recommend The Husbands secret)
A very naive rushed attempt at quite a whacky story line. I’d already read ‘Stealing Fire’ (non fiction), so was well aware of micro dosing and it’s various uses. I found this book silly and poorly researched.
The one thing I love most about Liane’s books are her characters and I felt by the end of the book, I handed bonded with any of them.
This would pass as a bit of light hearted pool side trash but I still think you can find better things to read.
I’m truly hoping she was on a deadline to rush this out and this isn’t her new form. The narration however, is excellent as always.

I truly hated this book
I think Liane Moriarty is a great writer but this book is so boring and so long. With expectations high, this story was disappointing. I really wanted to know the end so I kept going but I only enjoyed the last 4 chapters. I also love Caroline Lee readings but this time... the russian accent was too much.

Love Liane Moriarty
As much as I love her books I didn’t feel this had the authenticity of the others I have read. I didn’t feel as engaged in the characters (maybe there were too many for me) and I missed the great descriptions of the northern beaches!
Having said all that it was a fun easy read and I’ll still be listening to the next one Liane writes.

Sadly, everything is lost now.
I loved most of her books but slowly started to realize they were imitating Rosamunde Pilcher...and this one here is bad, just bad. I decided to give it a try - bad decision. Starting quite interesting it's soon getting opaque by multiple sub-stories which don't deserve to be told and don't help, and finally there's a worldwide happy ending, which is made possible by the strength of the female characters. Not a single man does anything good and all that's needed seems to be female solidarity. Thanks, I didn't know that, having spent 62 male years as an error of nature. My advice: read Pilcher.
