F epic. Fantastic world, made me think of Chihiro spirit world with monsters, and magical beings and a transformative experience for the hero who finds himself stuck in this world he had no idea existed.

Seemed a bit like a teen book or a pantomime. Well written for what it is but I prefer darker more mature narratives than this. It will be perfect for some but unfortunately I just tried the wrong book.

Only the suspense keeps one reading. Fundamentally a novel of becoming a man. One more, in a landscape of yet another fairy tales, dungeons and other clichés. For teenagers probably.
