Sure, it might not be completely unfair to call Michael Anderson a "control freak." It's helped him in business—he's the CEO of Anderson Enterprises, after all. But he's trying to learn to let loose just a tiny bit. Still, he's not quite sure why his therapist thinks dogsitting will fix anything? Especially since Michael and this particular canine share a kind of mutual loathing. To make matters worse, his new next door neighbor keeps disrupting his peace—and his dates—by blasting the worst possible music at the worst possible times.

Artist and free spirit Mia Argaropolis just landed the perfect gig: housesitting in the Upper West Side. Too bad the guy next door is an arrogant stick in the mud with a penchant for calling security whenever she tries to drown out the noises coming from his side of the wall. Suddenly, all in one day, Mia finds herself fighting for survival in unbearable situations. First, her dinner rolls go apocalyptic and try to take out the whole kitchen. Then her douchebag ex shows up out of the blue, her bathtub overflows, and she's attacked by a Shih Tzu with the personality of Godzilla. When Mia's uptight neighbor steps in as her unlikely hero and unplanned fiance (wait, what?), she's not sure how much stranger this day could get.
