    Description

The popular and highly respected horse trainer Mark Rashid brings together Western and Eastern philosophies to demonstrate a seamless new incarnation of horse training. After years of helping "difficult" horses, Mark Rashid understands how to build the foundation of a horse's training and resolve any problems encountered along the way. He explains how he allows the traditionally firm or assertive approach of the old Western style to take some lessons from the softer conflict resolution and ego reduction approach that the Japanese martial art of aikido teaches. Rashid's ultimate goal is harmony between horse and rider.

    STRONGLY dislike narrator's voice

Mike Chamberlain or Kevin Young please. This narrator didn't make the story at all exciting. in fact. it was excruciating to listen to. His voice is impossible to get used to. It's more for a movie trailer for a sinister movie or something dark. I wish Mike Chamberlain or Kevin Young would read it! It ruined the story for me.

A book every horse person should read.

This book was wonderful and I absolutely loved it. So much so, that I know I'll be revisiting it often. Author explainins many different training possibilities with horses and horsemanship. There is no, one size fits all when it comes to horse training (or life)and Mark Rashid gives great examples of how to ebb and flow and reach harmony with horses. a great read that I urge every single horse owner/trainer to explore. the reader of the book speaks a bit slowly but that issue was easily resolved by speeding up the book at the top.

Different then other a Mark Rashid books

Very different from the first three Mark Rashid books I read. This was interesting, but I was more anxious to get through it so I could move on to the next book than really wanting to finish it. Very true to description, lots and lots about the Akita(?). No mention of the old man or the lessons he learned from him.

    Robot Reader?

I love all of Mark Rashid's books, and that is the only reason I finished this book. The reader sounds like a robot that can read words, but not sentences. He randomly just stops in the middle of a sentence, as if there were a period there. It's not only annoying, if often changes the meaning of sentences, requiring a back up to get the true meaning.

Narration did not do this book justice

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator threw in inappropriate pauses and seemed to be trying to enunciate so well that the sentences did not sound like a real person would speak.

    Any additional comments?

Liked the information given by Mark Rashid but found listening to this book painful.

Overall a great book, but ...

I love listening to Mark's take on the horse vs. aikido, but it is a little too much on the aikido side for me. Towards about an hour and a half before the end of the book, I was seriously over hearing about how descriptive the aikido is over the horse side of it. I picked this up thinking it would be the other way around, more horse mixed in with a little aikido. Overall great, would I refer to it again, probably not.

    Nature in Horsemanship

Loved it so much that I'm disappointed that it was done. such a great perspective and such a blessing that Mark Rashid shared his treasured experience once again. At least should be read by every person who owns or loves a horse.

    viel Philosophie

Es ist kein "how to...." Buch.
Es geht vor allem um uns und dann können wir viel verstehen, was mit und zwischen uns und den Pferden passiert.
