Description
Dakkon’s in trouble. Things have gone horribly wrong. But so long as there’s still a glimmer of hope, it’s not too late, is it? With such high stakes, failure isn’t an option. He’s got to stay crisp. Frosty. Focused.
Dakkon needs luck, skill, and a meteoric rise in power, however success won’t come so easily. Nature is cruel. Predators come in all shapes and sizes, especially when the land is warped by magic.
Everything rests on Dakkon’s shoulders now, but perhaps someone can tell him: Elves. Why must they all be so damned uppity?

Weakest out of the three
Don't get wrong I am huge fan of the first two books. This was not on the same level. Escalation just got way out of hand and even though the "side quests" were interesting... No cool new skills but power creep and importance of the lead grew like crazy. If the nose to the grind stone mentality and the resolts paying of in weird and super cool ways were the delights of the previous novels this one made me hope that if there is a next book it will save what this one broke, instead of me impatient for it

A Huge Misstep
The previous books in this series are about a clever character making friends and finding creative solutions to problems in grand adventures. This book is about watching the main character go solo for most of the adventure while mostly fumbling his way through a series of unfortunate events. Additionally, as a reader I found it frustrating to not get resolution to the previous book's cliffhanger until the end of the novel. Rather than being worried about the resolution, the lack of denouement made me angry at the author so that I was no longer able to experience the world and story from the character's point of view. Instead, I was reading the author's frustrating story. As a byproduct, it also removed any growth in the series most interesting relationship.

Meh
Every series has its hits and misses. This was definitely a miss. This book felt like it should have been added in as a side story even though important world events seem to be progressing. I’ll still check out book 4 but this book did dampen my enthusiasm for this series.

Another Fun Adventure!
I am really enjoying this series so far, and I'm really looking forward to the next installment. The story is engaging and well written, and Nick Podehl is brilliant as the narrator as always. On the other hand, the MC seems to be relying far too much on his high Luck stats in this book rather than on any kind of skills or strategy. The old phrase, "better lucky than good" sums up Dakon's story completely thus far. He stumbles around the game world making consistently stupid decisions while insulting kings and gods alike with churlish impertinence - sometimes to the point of cringe worthiness - yet he always seems to prevail no matter the odds against him. Dumb luck indeed!

Good storytelling
I will say that the plot meandered a bit towards the end when the MC went off on a random quest and strange probably completely unnecessary impersonation spree. Overall the series is one of my favorites that we don't get enough of.
Keep up the good work.

Great Third Book!
This book was really good, a great continuation from the previous two. While I felt that the beginning was a little slow, it definitely picked up. I like that Dakon is a very likeable character and every one of us can agree with the purpose he is now fighting for: klein's return. I can't wait for book4! And as always, anything Podehl narrates is wonderfully done. His range of voices is just mind boggling!

Enjoyable
I thoroughly enjoyed this series
The story draws you in. I had so much fun going through the mist and then the dungeon
I would have given it 5 stars but I didn’t like ditching the elf then to keep introducing additional allies to many characters without a good conclusion overall, I did love the story and it was fun fallowing the progression of the characters I would hope for the story to be tied together in the next book

Love The Series
The twists from books 1 and 2 were great. However this book feels like more so a lackluster solo side story especially after the hardcore ending of book 2. The characters it does introduce feel really inconsequential such as the elf who the MC was supposed to find or the mist villain who doesnt have any buildup and is just evil for evils sake. I feel like with more group quests and interaction it would've been great. Even if it was the new characters, the time MC and elf spent together or the priest captain and MC felt pretty fun and interesting. Either way I am looking forward to the future of this series!
