This is a book of short stories and poetry of medieval themes, especially the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons. There is a delightful story called "The Owl, the Witch, and the Wizard" featuring the wizard Merlin. This poetic form has not been widely practiced since the time of Chaucer, when it was by and large supplanted by the rhyming meter and later by iambic pentameter.
