Frank Slaughter and his wife, Martha, with their two children arrive at their new homestead. Martha, a city girl, fears the wilderness and the unknown, not just for herself but for the entire family. Frank leaves them alone one fine day to head to town a day away for lumber to build their new house. But weather in the Rockies tends to be fickle.
Soon a late spring snow storm arrives. Frank becomes lost in the snow and desperately tries to find his family, now alone, terrified and helpless.
