Making Me traces the biblical message that personal identity is rooted in God’s design and must therefore be discovered rather than invented. I do not make myself; God is making me.
Our culture insists that each person define themselves. As a result, what it means to be human has fragmented into disconnected shards that threaten to tear society apart. Even Christian fellowship can shatter into pieces suspiciously resembling the cracks in our culture, making it hard to see Jesus in the whole. Addressing hot-button issues like gender identity or tribal politics deals with symptoms but not the disease. Who we are is a worldview issue, and society’s current perspective has left everyone looking to their own subculture to tell them who they are.
Drawing on the biblical illustration of God as a Potter, this book follows God’s design from before time to the everlasting perfection of all things. They explore profound Christian doctrines, the sweep of biblical history, the key role of Jesus Christ, personal spiritual growth, approaching death, and what the future holds.
