    Description

She must learn to fly, but can she withstand the allure of the handsome new teacher?

Book two in the Top 10 Kindle Store and internationally best-selling series by USA Today best-selling author K.F. Breene!

The decision has been made. Jessie has taken the magic and all the weird that goes with it. Including wings.

There's only one problem - she can't figure out how to access them.

Through a series of terrible decisions, Jessie realizes she must ask for help. Gargoyle help.

But she could've never predicted who answers her call - he's an excellent flier, incredibly patient, and a good trainer. He's also incredibly handsome. And interested.

Maybe flying isn't the only thing she needs help with. Maybe she needs help getting back on that saddle, too, emerging into the dating pool.

Except, the new gargoyle is also an alpha, just like Austin, and the town isn't big enough for two.

Turns out, flying is the least of her problems.

    Disappointing but okay

The first book in this series was hysterical. I laughed myself silly several times listening to it. I enjoyed it so much I listened to it again and again. I was waiting with anticipation for this sequel to be released. This wasn’t a horrible book but it clearly wasn’t half the book the first one was. The heroine of the story turned from being a strong-minded woman to a waffler. She dithers through over half the book. What if, what if, what if. The writer introduced a new strong male character to compete with the hero from the initial book, only to demonstrate that after the first glance he’s just a self-absorbed idiot and no competition at all. The book rambles along at a very slow pace and isn’t terribly exciting until the end. Oh, and the house, it turns into a demonic monster to torment its master and protectors. Yeah not a great sequel. Last but hardly least the narrator changed the voice for the vampire into a really stupid mockery of a person speaking with fangs. The author turns the vampire into a complete idiot as well, hmm that happens with several of the characters from the book, I see a pattern here. The narrator’s portrayal of Edgar is a joke and doesn’t sync with the portrayal of Edgar from the first and better book. It was painful to listen to and whoever decided this was a good idea needs to get a new job. Overall it is an okay book but not anywhere near as good as the first. I don’t know if I will bother listening to another sequel. This one was a complete disappointment. The author should seriously think about another way to try and add humor besides making all her characters be complete idiots.

The books in this series can’t come out fast enough

I really love the characters in this series. The banter between them, sarcasm and quips. It was a great second book of the series adding more fantastical creatures and characters. Just as with the last book, I only wish it was longer. I can’t wait for the next one!!

I love this series and Nicole Poole!

The characters and dialogue are so funny, and the narration is perfect! The first book was so good I listened to it at least 5 times, and I’ve been waiting impatiently for this one. I’ll have to listen to this a few more times while I wait for the next one. Please hurry Ms Breene!

    okay

It's light and witty without being high literature. It's entertaining. (I need five more words)

    Awesome

Quite interesting addition to this series as we see our heroine gain powers in a very entertaining and exciting way. We meet new friends and learn more of her enemies. The audible is so alive when narrated by Nichole Poole. It helps when the story is so well developed as is this one. Enjoy.

    Obsessed with appearance

I listened to the first book and it was just meh to me. The MC is annoying and talks incessantly about being divorced and how having a baby ruined her body. I hope she doesn’t say that to her son! Anyway, towards the end of the book something magical happens and suddenly all of her physical “imperfections” are fixed. Her skin is tightened up, evidence of her having a baby are gone, aches and pains disappear, etc. So, everything that made her physically relatable to REAL women was gone.

In the second book she’s a hot mama that more than a few men lusting after her. Odd how that happened after her magical mommy makeover! The first book yammered about how her body was worn out and undesirable. The second book repeatedly mentions how her body is new and improved, tightened up, and every man, both young and old, is drooling over her. Other series I have read from the PWF group have had characters who are real and improve through good old-fashioned hard work. This book sadly reinforces the mindset that many women have, which is that it would take an act of God or magic to get our younger bodies back. You can't set the clock back, ladies!

I won’t be listening to any more of this series. I’ll stick to books with real women who see the signs of aging as battle scars that were hard-earned and something to be proud of.

Love K.F. Breen...but not this series

This series and this book have the usual K.F. Breene style. Hilariously bumbling protagonist who thinks the phrase "Ignorance is Bliss" is some kind of religious commandment that should be obeyed at all times and at any cost to save her little ignorant soul...check. Quirky side characters who constantly point out the protagonists short comings in a series of awesome sick burns...Check. Love interests who come across a little too emo edge lord most of the time...check. Crap ton of witty one liners that crack me up...check.
Sigh, i won't say that i have loved every book. i have my complaints even of the greatest of Breene's work (Demigods of San Francisco), but i can usually get through the parts i don't like and still enjoy myself pretty well. I even made it through the Natural Witch series and i HATED the Edgiest of edge lord love interests in that book. However in this book i found myself constantly stopping and doing other things like listening to other books, watching podcasts, or just looking up dumb stuff on google instead of listening to this book. Each time it would take me longer to get back to the book until i realized that it had been a week i had nothing to distract myself and i STILL didn't want to keep listening to this book. I don't know why, but maybe it is because the Protagonist is really preachy and doesn't seem to know if she wants to be treated like a young care free woman or an experienced and sophisticated woman. She keeps bouncing between the two and goes on long tangents about how everyone is not treating her the way she wants, because of societal constructs or something. Honestly i kept tuning her out. Maybe it's the fact that i have no idea what is going on, and the protagonist, my voice in the story, literally says she doesn't WANT to know because "scary". Or maybe i am just done with the silliness. maybe if i come back in a year i will find this all hilarious again but for right now i think i am done.

    Loved it

    K. F. Breene is one of my all-time favorite writers. Her characters are snarky, yet lovable and her stories just amazing. And Nicole Poole breaths life into it all with her great reading.
