Provence, May 1889. The hospital of Saint-Paul-de Mausole is home to the mentally ill. An old monastery, it sits at the foot of Les Alpilles mountains amongst wheat fields, herbs and olive groves. Das Buch hat mich sehr berührt. Eine schöne, etwas traurige und sehr eindringliche Erzählung mit wahrem Hintergrund. Vielleicht muss man aber selbst in Jeannes Alter sein, um ihre Gefühle und Gedanken ganz verstehen zu können. Man lernt sogar selbst, Farben zu sehen… Es ist keine reißerische oder spannende Geschichte, sondern eine, die man still auf sich wirken lässt. Unbedingte Kaufempfehlung.
