Disgraced and nearing the end of his career, Lieutenant Gil Meek is an old school detective living on borrowed time. As Gil digs deeper, he uncovers the remnants of Shepherd’s Fold, a long abandoned religious cult rumored to have sought immortality through grotesque rituals blending human and animal sacrifice. The dead man in the cave, known only as Fate, turns out to be the last surviving child of that cult—his memory erased, his life quietly controlled, and his body carrying the residue of something unnatural.
The deeper Gil pushes, the more resistance he meets: from Internal Affairs, from federal agents circling the case, and from powerful interests determined to keep the past buried.
