Knowing God’s love produces wonderful fruit.
God takes the initiative to reveal his heart of love and compassion for his children. “We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19) “In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:10)
When we know we are loved by God, we are able to give love to God, which is our primary responsibility. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.” (Matthew 22:37-38)
When we know we are loved, we are empowered to practice the new commandment. “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you” (John 13:34)
When husbands know they are loved, they can fulfill the call of God to “love their wives as Christ loved the church.” (Ephesians 5:25)
When fathers and mothers know they are unconditionally loved, they are equipped to love their children unconditionally as they “bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4)
