Great book!

Description
An Ultramarines novel.
Cast adrift on the tides of the warp, Ultramarines Captain Sicarius and his warriors come across a world plagued by a terrible foe - but if they stay to defeat this enemy, what will be the cost?
Listen to it because:
Captain Sicarius returns in a new novel from the author of Fall of Damnos! For the first time, discover what befell Sicarius when he was lost in the warp and how he survived....
The story:
The primarch Roboute Guilliman of the Ultramarines has returned in the galaxy’s hour of need, and all muster to his Indomitus Crusade to hold back the darkness. Amongst these heroes is Cato Sicarius, Master of the Watch and vaunted captain of Second Company. Disaster befalls Sicarius and his brave warriors as their ship, the Emperor’s Will, is lost to the hellish warp, its entire crew believed slain. But Sicarius endures, though he and his men are fighting for their very survival against the denizens of the Great Rift - the daemons and renegades of Chaos.
Cast adrift and war-weary, hope appears too distant to grasp until the storm breaks at last and a strange world beckons. As the captain and a band of his chosen warriors descend to the surface seeking aid, they find an isolated land seemingly from an ancient era, one plagued by a terrible enemy. Sicarius will not see this world suffer and pledges his warriors to the world’s cause, determined to save it, whatever the cost....
But what is the dark secret harboured here, and what will it mean for the Ultramarines if they uncover it? Written by Nick Kyme.

Narrator is great, book is not
So join a miscellaneous crew you don't and won't care about on a ship that is sailing for a place so awful they forgot to mention it, so they can do an important thing that you will never know, all while Cato Sicarius strokes his beard. But don't worry friends Cato and crew spend five years lost doing awesome things in the warp...which this book won't tell us either. Well fast forward to where hunger strikes, bafflingly bad decisions, vigorous beard stroking, and seminaked old men doing their best ju-on impressions are all the rage. Or don't, save that credit and get a good book like Eisenhorn.

Shallow
Having just read Servants of the Throne, Eisenhorn, and Dark Imperium I was looking forward to getting some great insights into the Ultramarines post primarch return. Unfortunately this book mainly centers around actions scenes, gore, and people making bad decisions with no explanation behind it.
If you like action and gore while never exploring plot or the setting deeply; this book could be for you. If you are looking for atmosphere beyond descriptions of blood and bodies, look elsewhere.

such a great story
the first part of it gave a great horror story an turned to a story of fantasy an knighthood which reminded me of an old 90s movie calles the 13th warrior that had Antonio Banderas but with a great plot twist kinda wish they explore more about the bulkey knighted villain but I think it would had taken more of thw mystery from it but great listen

Well done, enjoyed the whole book!
Well done, it's not an over the top WAR! WAR! WAR! BATTLE! BATTLE! BATTLE! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! kinda book. Though of course there is still battles and fighting(especially in the beginning where it's basically a horror movie...book...audiobook, whatever! You know what I mean) it wouldn't be 40k if there wasn't fighting but it's more of a mystery novel compared to other 40k books. This is my first novel with the main being Cato Sicarius and it didn't really disappoint except in that it didn't show me why Cato is such a divisive character. I keep hearing that Cato is arrogant, OP, never loses, and always makes the best choices no matter what so I expected over the top heroics and shenanigans but he was laid back for the whole book. Now the cons and there's just a few. One being certain plot points aren't followed to resolution. Basically I want to know what happened to certain characters but the book never addresses this and I don't think there will be a follow up following these plot points. The second con is there's always a bigger fish(enemy) after they deal with the first fish. It gets kinda old when there's a bigger fish after the bigger fish after the bigger fish but just when I'm about to get annoyed about it the book address the problem and it's done. And finally there's a certain person that always seems to be there to save the day but the book also addresses this by the end as well so all is good and this novel was well done. I enjoyed to the end and even wanted more so if you want a break from all the intense battles and dismay this novel would be a good in between book to listen to. Enjoy!

First ever low review of a 40k book
I was lost the entire time. I also felt that there was a few times that the story repeated itself. There was something off on the way this was written.

A Tale for any Ultramarines Fan
There is no time for boredom. The Tale of Sicarius and his company upon the Emperors will is amazing and capturing. The conflict between primaris spacemarines and old spacemarines is just one of the interesting parts of this story. The characters feel alive and u can easily establish a connection to them. Two of my favorites were Gaius and Piliam. See for yourself. It is a great audiobook and an even greater story.
