Harassment and bullying at work can be a nightmare for managers. Nowadays, over-the-top behaviours have been replaced by more subtle, less observable actions. These are far harder to recognise, let alone deal with. Before you notice what’s going on, morale and trust can be irreparably damaged, and key staff are resigning. But it doesn’t need to be like that. This toolkit will help you:
- Recognise the passive-aggressive behaviours that could be undermining morale in your team - and how to deal with them.
- Respond with empathy to an employee who says, "I want to tell you about x, but I don’t want you to do anything about it."
- Outline the five-stage ABCDE feedback model which helps you prepare and then give feedback to an employee who’s been accused of harassment or bullying.
- Teach the four-step BIFF process to your staff so they can address disrespectful behaviour before it becomes a problem.
- Carry out facilitated meetings between staff members to resolve complaints informally.
- Create a respectful workplace culture where harassment and bullying incidents don’t happen in the first place.
No two situations are the same. The toolkit outlines all the interventions, techniques, and strategies that work for organisations and businesses, both large and small.
