Description
A fortuitous encounter. A meeting that should never have happened.
Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever...
Salome knows only one way to live - under Prophet David’s rule. In the commune she calls home, Salome knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence - the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free.
Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again.
River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life - he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six - much to his rivals’ delight.
Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw, and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away.
Styx has one rule in life - never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot...a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go...

Warning ~ Not For the Faint of Heart!
Wow! What an emotionally charged story!
I fell in love with the story and look forward to listening to the rest of the series; however, this was one of the darkest MC's I've listened too so far. It may not be for everyone.
Tillie Cole did an amazing job creating a heart wrenching story that captures the essence of the MC world, and the horrors of a depraved fanatical religious cult. Told from two POV's from different worlds, we follow the characters as they are reunited by chance, deal with the horrors from their past, hang on to each other with everything they have, and what one man will do to keep the love of his life.
Some spoilers:
Styx's whole life has revolved around the Hades Hangman MC. This club doesn't hold back, it's tough, crude, does illegal activities, and all the sex, drinking, and killing has shaped Styx's into one of the toughest MC's Prez. Due to a speech impediment, he's only been able to talk to three people, his dad, best friend and the young girl he's been obsessed with every since their unexpected meeting years ago. Because he doesn't talk around others, he's earned the scary reputation as the Hangman's Mute.
Mae was raised by a fanatical religious group, and due to her beauty, she was deemed a "cursed." As one of the cursed, it was believed they would more than likely sway a man from their righteous path. Due to these wrapped views, she suffered many horrors from an early age. Fearing for her life, she made a desperate attempt to escape, and was hurt badly. Barely alive, she found herself at the Hades Hangman's MC. Recognizing each other from years ago, a bound between Mae and Styx starts to grow. Styx would do anything to protect Mae, and she's never felt safe except with Styx.
While the journey for these characters was hard, intense and at times not easy to listen too, I found myself totally engrossed and unable to stop listening. The characters and plot were well thought out, developed, and had twist all through the story. This was one of the best MC's I've listened too; however, I have to warn you, it's dark, unapologetic, full of bad language, and has sexual abuse, but it's a story that will stick with you well after you finished it.
J.F. Harding and Annie Green's performance was AWESOME. Due to one of the main characters, this was not an easy story to narrate, but this dual nailed it. They really brought this story to life!
Definitely worth a credit!

Not for the faint of heart
This MC romance is definitely hard core. Women are bitches, there are club whores, there's gun running, torture and murder. Unfortunately, that's not the worst of it.There is also a look into a religious cult that santions rape of 8 yr old girls. If you are sensitive or gave triggers, this isn't for you. That being said, there are also some wonderful characters that develop beautifully throughout the plot. The thesis seems to be that the human soul can overcome unbelievable adversity. Worth a credit, in my book.

PEDOPHILIA IN THE NAME OF RELIGION
The publishers summary is spot on. This is a very different MC series. Fitting that the MC's name is Hades Hangmen since they fight a religious cult.
I never give spoilers but I think people need a warning with this series. The cult, adult men, rape girls starting at the age of eight years old all in the name of religion. Of course, the men also have more than one wife.
This series is dark, gritty, and sometimes sick. I cringed through parts of the book. We learn a lot about how the girls/women are mistreated in the cult and there's talk about religion.
Tillie Cole has once again written an all consuming series. I also love her Scarred Souls series.
J.F. Harding and Annie Green gave a fantastic performance. Especially since Styx stutters. Annie's voice is perfect for the young girls she's portraying.
This is absolutely worth a credit if you like dark and gritty.

The best kind of dark trash
Okay so this is trash but it's really, really enjoyable trash. It's like a Sons of Anarchy romance novel with enough plot beyond the romance to actually be hella entertaining. Styx isn't your average romance novel hero-- for one he is almost entirely mute and when he does manage to talk, it is with a bad stutter. This instantly made me like him more since it is pretty rare to see a disabled main character in the romance genre. Mae in contrast, has been abused her entire life and has to learn how to live in the "normal" world outside of the religious cult she escaped from. I loved watching these two characters find a level of peace together and the strength to face their demons. All that said, this is still a romance novel so you can expect a lot of improbable sex, redundant descriptions, and a primary focus on attraction levels over plot. Warning to the wise though, this is a dark romance with heavy focus on physical and sexual abuse against adults and children. Still, I really enjoyed this one and can't wait to read about Flame and Maddie.

Amazing!!!!
I have to say. There is nothing like this story. It drew me in and what a ride. I highly recommend this book. The characters were not your typical types which was so refreshing. Definitely worth the credit.

YES!!! IT IS YOU BABE, FOR SURE 100% !!!
I am a big fan of Tillie Cole's, and I decided to start reading her Hangman Series, with "IT AIN'T ME BABE" being the first book in the series. I was hesitant at first, I do love a motorcycle club book and a Hot, Sexy, Bad Boy Motorcycle Man is always delicious, but a book with cults, and a club named after the Greek God Hades which is the Devil/Satan, had me feeling uneasy, but leave it to the Brilliant and Talented Writer/Author Our Tillie Cole to make everything blend and work well together to bring us readers a dark, twisty, romantic, edgy book that does not cross any lines or leave any feelings of uncertainty and/or uncomfortableness at all. Instead, a book that I enjoyed reading and enjoyed more by listening to and a series that I am looking forward to continuing on with the other books that follow.. Find your Motorcycle Man, hop on for a Dark, and Dangerous, Wild ride with Tillie Cole's Hangman Series!!!

Fabulous narration!
J. F. Harding is a mix between Sam Elliott and Kris Kristofferson. That was the best part of this book!

Nicht zu empfehlen...
Sehr schwache Handlung, frauenfeindliche und abwertende Inhalte, kaum Leidenschaft. Die Sprecher*innen zeigen leider kein schauspielerisches Talent.
