Mundane
Took a lot not to just FF to the end. Lots of recaps and redundancies of an unremarkable and ridiculously unbelievable story. No way in heck this love story or so-called military action dramatization make sense. This story line was held together by wet noodles. It just didn’t gel. Female narrator was pretty good. The male narrator was terrible- male and female parts. I didn’t read the prequel. Wish i had so I could have skipped this one.

This is Why She Reigns
Xavier. As a damaged SEAL now developing a top-secret training mission in a national park, he's pure rocket fuel. And Audrey. As the official archaeologist for the national park, she's a firecracker. Together? Yeah, complete combustion.
The author has outdone herself with this story. It may follow the form that romantic suspense readers so appreciate with a purely alpha protector physically and mentally damaged by a previous mission and a spitfire of a local whose protective gene runs deep for the wilderness she loves. Their goals are nowhere close to alignment, but the one-night stand they shared weeks ago just won't go away. It colors their thoughts and actions. Audrey may have loved their night together, but she's beyond furious with him. Xavier is enthralled with her. But he understands her bitterness and unfortunately isn't able to explain his actions. Enter: one ticked-off antagonist with minions, a brutal storm, and a SEAL team training exercise, and things go sideways fast.
For fans of romantic suspense, military romance, and just plain good action stories with a romantic twist, this novel is perfection. The characters are engaging and genuine. The storyline is fast-paced and intense. It's pure literary satisfaction with a unique plot. I'm ready for more.

Hot suspenseful nail biting romance
Hold onto your hat for Xavier and Audrey stormy ride - you’ll love it. After the prequel I was thinking Xavier was kind of a jerk and I was dying to get my hands on this book to see how the conflict between he and Audrey was resolved. The story did not disappoint. The story grabbed me by throat from the very first word and kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last one. This hot suspenseful romance keeps you enthralled and is filled with smart funny and wildly appealing characters and an edge of your seat story. The adventure of Xavier and Audrey will give you all the feels - laughing, crying, swooning, gasping, cringing, teeth gritting, and cheering. Xavier is a former SEAL who now trains SEALs and is currently conducting a training exercise in a national park. Audrey is the ONP archeologist to the Park. Despite an imminent storm, when the cameras on a recently looted historic burial site go out, she immediately goes to the Park fearing the worst. This choice throws Audrey and Xavier together again. Audrey and Xavier had a sizzling and life changing one night stand that 6 weeks later ended in betrayal (detailed in Before the Storm but also explained in this story). There are no happy feelings when they find themselves stranded in the park, in the middle of a winter storm, running from evil bad guys. Once they at least partly grasp the situation they are in, the intrigue, danger, excitement and romance surge into roller coaster pacing. The book has a little bit of everything just like you would expect from romantic suspense - sweet moments, strong friendships, sexy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, dangerous moments, mystery, uber protective men, secrets, painful pasts, evil actors, and so much love. The story included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. I love when romantic suspense keeps me guessing the motives of the bad guys. This author is the queen of this genre.
This is a dual narration and listening to the story adds further dimension to the characters. Nicol Zanzarella and Greg Tremblay did a phenomenal job narrating the story and breathing life into the characters with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.

Fig!!!
Rachel Grant captivated my attention from the very beginning of Into the Storm. I love how she wrote the story and had realistic characters and incredible chemistry. The narration by Nicol Zanzarella and Greg Tremblay couldn’t have been any better. They both gave great emotions and character voices. I knew exactly who was speaking. I could envision so many details listening to this book.

I have read every one of her books and they are all fantastic. I look forward to each one and I’m willing to pay for them. Normally I only read or listen to free books. There are a few authors that I will pay for and she is one.

Definitely a movie worthy book!
OMG, this book should be snapped up by some movie producer, a definite exciting and action packed listen/read. I listened to this and the prequel “Before the Storm” in two days time. The narrators Nicol Zanzarella and Greg Tremblay do an outstanding job. What starts as a heart breaking personal betrayal, spirals into a unputdownable exciting drama ridden adventure listen/read. Add this newest series to your listening/TBR list.

Xavier and Audrey
A story about Navy Seals ops training with a real twist. This story has a lot of survival action in a remote national park. There is Seal action, murder, suspense and even romance. Great story. Narration was good as well. Sisters Spotlight 💕

Fantastic military romance!💜
I absolutely enjoyed every minute of this book. This story was filled with excitement, action & suspense. Definitely a page turner, I couldn’t put it down. Well written with the perfect amount of romance & sex considering their circumstances. Strong female character and sexy hot Seal, and both showed some vulnerability. The narration was absolutely brilliant. Both narrators performed well and caught all the emotions perfectly. I could listen to Greg Tremblay all day! This author is new to me but not for long. Well done everyone!
This is book 1 with an HEA and can be read as a standalone!
I’m giving this my Spotlight Award for best Military Romance of 2022.

Adventure & Suspense & Romance, oh my!
What an excellent ride! This story starts off strong, grabs you by the throat and demands you make it to the finish line in record time! Xavier and Audrey have everything stacked against them and everything is on the line. The way they come together, respecting each other's contributions is inspiring and makes you whole-heartedly cheer for their future.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Thrilling
This gripping and thrilling romantic suspense is my first novel written by Rachel Grant and consider me wowed, she is a gifted author with an impressive writing style, her descriptive details takes you into her story right alongside the characters allowing you to see and experience everything they do and know what they are thinking. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too, well, except the bad guys. Navy SEAL Xavier Rivera sustained an injury on his last mission that ended his ability to do fieldwork, but he can put his valuable knowledge and expertise to use and train other SEALs for future missions and that is exactly what he is doing in a remote area in the Pacific Northwest, in an area that is remote wilderness and not easily accessible to the public in the winter months. Archaeologist Audrey Kendrick is protective of land and the park she works in, so much so she declined a permit allowing usage of the area for a military training operation, but thanks to Xavier Rivera’s betrayal they got their permits. She and Xavier had history, a one-night stand, a memorable one, but he turned around and made accusations that were untrue, which was surprising since he was supposed to be an honorable man. Unbeknownst to Audrey, the op was going on and she wound up amid it and complicating matters even more is the storm that rolled in. Rivera’s training mission was a go, but when he sees her and she tells why she is there, he goes with her to investigate, then it all goes downhill from there. Someone sabotaged his mission right from the start and what was a training exercise becomes a real life battle and the two of them and the others wind up battling for their lives. These two were great together and for each other, they worked well as a team and the chemistry between them was smoking hot. This military thriller, romantic suspense keeps you on your toes and takes you to the edge of your seat, it is a cleverly plotted story with the perfect balance of drama, action, thrilling suspense, mystery, heartfelt emotions and a steamy romance. Rachel Grant, thank you for this amazing story and the wild and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Rachel Grant could not have chosen a better cast to bring her characters and story to life. Nicol Zanzarella and Greg Tremblay are fabulously talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they were portraying, gave each a voice that fit that character’s persona sounding believable in every role they play. Zanzarella played Audrey’s role with perfection, grasped every side of her personality, her strength and her bravery. Tremblay was amazing as Xavier, nailed it as a bad@ss seal. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhanced an already amazing story to another level. Thank you for this fantastic listen.
