Description
“Whitney Cummings has written a book about being, well, not fine - and what to do when you find yourself with brutal anxiety and a co-dependency disorder; all in her trademark wit, humor, and honesty. This book, however, is fine as hell.” (Sophia Amoruso, author of #Girlboss)
“The funniest cry for help you'll read this year.” (BJ Novak)
Well, well, well. Look at you, ogling my audiobook page.... I presume if you’re reading this, it means you either need more encouragement to buy it or we used to date and you’re trying to figure out if you should sue me or not. Here are all the stories and mistakes I’ve made that were way too embarrassing to tell on stage in front of an actual audience; but thanks to not-so-modern technology, you can hear about them here so I don’t have to risk having your judgmental eye contact crush my self-esteem.
This audiobook contains some delicious schadenfreude in which I recall such humiliating debacles as breaking my shoulder while trying to impress a guy, coming very close to spending my life in a Guatemalan prison, and having my lacerated ear sewn back on by a deaf guy after losing it in a torrid love affair.
In addition to hoarding mortifying situations that’ll make you feel way better about your choices, I’ve also accumulated a lot of knowledge from therapists, psychotherapists, and psychopaths that can probably help you avoid making the same mistakes I’ve made. Think of this audiobook as everything you’d want from the Internet all in one place, except without the constant distractions of ads, online shopping, and porn.
I’m not sure what else to say to say, except that you should buy it if you want to laugh and learn how to stop being crazy. And if we used to date, see you in court.

I've been waiting for this woman to write a book!
I've heard Whitney Cummings on podcasts and stand up talk hint and, at times, directly confront her winding road of research and self discovery.
Whitney goes all in with this book, delivering a vulnerable memoir of raw expression. She opens up about the trials most women go though, think about, and run from. She is refreshingly honest and sprinkles in enough humility and permission for you to know you're not alone in your own struggles.
Whitney occasionally takes recording off script and allows you to connect with her in that moment. There are times that she's so connected that you can hear her emotions come through in a way I've never seen on stage. While speaking up about her values and gender inequality for both men and women, Whitney also provides insight and examples of how hard those have been to change. She's also keenly aware of her potential bias in ways that are so wonderful and, she calls them out, encouraging us to also question what we *know* to be true.
If her goal was to bring honest, funny, encouraging words to women and men to be open, honest, and vulnerable to move us all forward... then she's done it. The rest is up to us to move forward and be, better. Love you, mean it.

A Must-Read for Codependency Sufferers
One of the most insightful books about codependence, neglect, and self-help I've read in a long time. I never imaged looking at her (yeah, judging a book by its cover) that Whit endured so many situational things I am embarrassed to admit, I can totally relate to.
Ex, being conditioned to normalize whatever painful dysfunction happened to me while taking care of relatives with abusive, selfish tendencies.
Certainly NOT what I expected at first blush when I glanced at the cover. I've always been something of a fan of Whitney's humor, but I never expected her to scribe a memoir. I purchased it on a whim thinking it would just be some silly regurgitations of her stand up. Nope. Sure there was humor, but sprinkles of it atop a more serious and important topic. Once I got into it, I was completely thrown by how much I was able to relate to her experiences as well as the behaviors, coping mechanisms, and mindset she'd develop to deal with her mental health issues. Wow. One of my favorite books hands down and certainly something I recommend as a must-read to anyone suffering from or have had low self-esteem, co-dependency (more specifically caretaker co-dependence), neglect, abusive relationships, etc.
I was also pleased that Whitney narrated the book and that she shared examples of how she managed to gain some healthy perspective on her life.

loved it
Wow, heard an interview on Howard Stern and decided to check out the book. Best book I've had the opportunity to listen to lately. I've already bought other copies to give to people for gifts.

Ok...
Kind of funny, kind of whiny. Nothing very groundbreaking or original. I was not impressed.

More of a Self Help book, really...
I expected a funny, Ha-Ha book here, but instead ended up getting a psych 101 course. I love Whitney's stand up and her tv show, but this book was not what I was expecting.

Thank you! I am fine now :)
Such a great book full of great realistic advise. Whitney makes learning about the crazy things and her life a fun adventure. Part of the story I am surprised and want to find away to help the other half I am looking inside and learning thirds about myself. The great thing is I am laughing with her the whole book! Thank you!! I am going to be fine!

Love love love
I loved this book. I don’t finish books, even audio books. I finished this in a few days. I’m so glad that Whitney read it herself. It was so much better that way. She was real and raw and cried and laughed and chimed in with little side notes (very sparingly). Don’t expect a silly memoir with anecdotal stories like most books from comedians (which I love as well). This is more of a road map of how she figured her head stuff out and how she’s still putting in the work, written for other people who have or want to understand those with mental health issues (codependency, anxiety, eating disorders, broken family, etc). Loved it!

Amazing
Whitney makes a claim early on in the book that this book will “change your life” and she was right. This book talks about very powerful and insightful topics. I think there’s something everyone can relate to. It’s funny and inspiring and I loved it!

Inspiringly funny
This person has a lot to say. Truth is hurtful, but if you have the courage and self-deprecation tendencies to share it with the world, you allow other people to heal with you, sometimes with laughter sometimes through tears. I appreciate your struggle to put it out there. Thank you.

Funny entertaining book, heavy on medical aspects
Pros:
I love Whitney Cummings. She’s a great female comedian; smart, authentic and entertaining. Her book is pretty much an autobiography. It offers a broad variety of emotions, from funny jokes to deep selfcare advice. I especially likes the psychology test in the beginning that she explained. I like the (audio)book a lot and would recommend it to anyone who likes Whitney and is a friend of comedy.
Cons:
Personally I felt like she goes a little to heavy in the details of her medical history. Every other sentence seems to contain “I have been diagnosed with xyz” which is then explained into detail more or less (from the subjective patients point of view). Although she doesn’t mean to do so, it seems like she prides herself with all her diagnoses which as a medical student I find very annoying.
All in all I definitely recommend this audiobook. Having her read it also makes it a lot more interesting and fun to listen to.
