Famed for his song 'Hallelujah' and covered by many artists. He was a huge presence on the music scene for many decades. Born in Canada, he was a novelist, songwriter, poet, and professional singer. His work explored politics, isolation, depression, death, sexuality, religion, loss and romance. With songs such as Hallelujah, Dance me to the end of Love, Suzanne, You want it Dark and many others.
