Description
AN INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES AND #1 USA TODAY BESTSELLER
In the follow-up to It Happened One Summer, Tessa Bailey delivers another deliciously fun rom-com about a former player who accidentally falls for his best friend while trying to help her land a different man…
King crab fisherman Fox Thornton has a reputation as a sexy, carefree flirt. Everyone knows he’s a guaranteed good time—in bed and out—and that’s exactly how he prefers it. Until he meets Hannah Bellinger. She’s immune to his charm and looks, but she seems to enjoy his… personality? And wants to be friends? Bizarre. But he likes her too much to risk a fling, so platonic pals it is.
Now, Hannah's in town for work, crashing in Fox’s spare bedroom. She knows he’s a notorious ladies’ man, but they’re definitely just friends. In fact, she's nursing a hopeless crush on a colleague and Fox is just the person to help with her lackluster love life. Armed with a few tips from Westport’s resident Casanova, Hannah sets out to catch her coworker’s eye… yet the more time she spends with Fox, the more she wants him instead. As the line between friendship and flirtation begins to blur, Hannah can't deny she loves everything about Fox, but she refuses to be another notch on his bedpost.
Living with his best friend should have been easy. Except now she’s walking around in a towel, sleeping right across the hall, and Fox is fantasizing about waking up next to her for the rest of his life and… and… man overboard! He’s fallen for her, hook, line, and sinker. Helping her flirt with another guy is pure torture, but maybe if Fox can tackle his inner demons and show Hannah he’s all in, she'll choose him instead?

So incredibly painful
I did finish this book, but it was painful to do. Half of this book is repetitive inner dialogue that just keeps you rolling your eyes and cringing. How many times can two characters have the same conversation with themselves? According to this book, a lot.
Also, I know the story was about Hannah and Fox, but the lack of interaction between Hannah and Piper was unrealistic.
The first one was cute, this was not.
One positive note is the epilogue. I did appreciate a future glimpse into everyone’s lives.

SO BAD ! SO SO BAD!!!!
I’m honestly questioning now the hype these books are having. This book was bad! I really liked the first book “it happened one summer” but this one was simply terrible. It even used the same “no condom” scenario. The whole f***boy who wants to be loved its so unbelievable bad! I just lost my time and money.

Not a great follow up
I was really excited about this story since I absolutely loved, “It Happened One Summer” and hoped then that the obvious connection between Hannah and Fox would be fleshed out, but this book was so painstakingly drawn out that I just found myself rolling my eyes over and over again and wishing it would just end already. Even when they (FINALLY) got to the steamy parts I found myself completely bored!
They narrator’s voice really bothered me. Her accents and voices for other characters was nothing short of cringey. And the way she said, “Hannah” (her own name!) drove me up the wall. And it was said A LOT.
Honestly, I’m surprised I made it past the first chapter which was a LONG string of back and forth texts between the two main characters read as: “Sept. 15th, Hannah, 10:22pm……” and “Fox, 10:22pm…..” FOR. EACH. TEXT. It was excruciating to listen to and I almost quit right then and there thinking that was how the whole book was going to play out because it went on for so long. Maybe this one is just better off as a physical read and not an audio one.
The overall story could’ve been a lot better and I’m just left disappointed that this wasn’t even close to how good “It Happened One Summer” was. Shame.

Another great Tessa Bailey book
This was perfect to listen to after it happened one summer. Easy to love these characters and just enough spice. Not my favorite narration but not bad! Just wish it could have had a male and female narrator.

Entertaining and Exciting
Tessa Bailey is a wonderful author. That paired with the narrator for this was great. I enjoyed listening to this story come to life. The smutty goodness is top tier.

Just good
The readers voice was just bad and really took away from the story itself. The story was fine but not half as good as it happened one summer.

X Rated
This was a good story, but I found the sex scenes a bit cliche and over the top. Additionally, these scenes seemed to prove, especially the degrading dirty talk, that sex was still way too much of a priority even when the characters supposedly changed.

Sweet & spicy!
🌶 🌶 / 5
Cute and light hearted, low drama but still entertaining. I adore both Fox and Hannah. Narration is great, the narrator does a fantastic male voice.

Good love story
I’m glad this second book was written because I wanted to hear more about these sisters. I thought it was a good book. The only thing I didn’t like was chapter one where it annoying read off times. I think this could have been done without listing the actual time they texted and just had dates. The story was good though after that first chapter. Some of the sexual banter was corny and unrealistic but I really liked their love story.

Loved it even more than the first book!
This book kept me engaged the whole time. I absolutely loved the character development. Especially Fox suprised me. And of course Hannah was so cute and strong at the same time. Shes just the girl you want to be friends with. The performer did a great job. After some minutes I didnt even realize anymore it was different from the first book. She gave the characters life.
