Description

In this fast-paced thriller, special operative Nathan McBride battles the most treacherous enemy he's ever faced - and the one hitting closest to home.

After simultaneous deadly terror attacks on San Diego and Washington, DC, hammer the nation, Nathan learns that the mass murders weren't random events - they targeted his family.

And the threat is far from over. Part of a larger plot involving a sabotaged North Korean bioweapons facility and an ISIS training camp in northern Mexico, a third attack - bigger than 9/11 - is being hatched by cold-blooded killers.

With the US Border Patrol and the CIA supporting the mission, Nathan teams up with longtime faily friend Vincent Beaumont, the CEO of America's largest private military contractor.

In a harrowing firefight, Nathan's assault team will have to neutralize the terrorist cell, recover the weapons of mass destruction, and get them safely across the international border. The lives of thousands are at risk as Nathan weighs his lust for revenge against the most crucial part of the mission - taking the ringleaders alive - which might just cost him his life.

Losing interest in this series

I have listened to all of the Nathan McBride books and they have been one of my favorites, but after this one I don't know any more. The story was decent and the narration was great, but I hate how they always linger on how much of a good person Nathan is, or talk over and over about how much he and Harvey would die for each other, and so on. Those things can all be mentioned but it seems like the author rambles on for 2-3 sentences at a time for what should have been a brief statement. Maybe it's just me but that annoys me every time and breaks up tense action sequences at times. It's almost like he needed to squeeze a few more words in to lengthen the book and went back and drug out any section where a tense life or death decision was being made. After this book, which seemed to have more of those ramblings that the previous ones, I'll be waiting for a bargain-bin sale before picking up any future books.

Action Packed

Another solid Nathan McBride story, it had thrills, suspense, and action. But it also had a lot of heart tugging moments. In this one we are given an even bigger insight into Nathan McBride's heart as his life is turned upside down. Though not as heavily action based, it is nicely balanced between action and story. Well done Andrew Peterson. Can't wait to see what happens next and to see if my predictions are right.

Action and Thrills Galore!!!!

I just love it when a book starts out with action and testosterone in the first few minutes. It's indicative of what's to come and Andrew Peterson does not disappoint.
This book begins easily enough. Nathan's at the grocery store. First he's thinking about all the wasted food here in the US. On his way down an isle he sees a mixed couple (Caucasian man and Mexican woman), then he hears the woman being struck in the face. He stops and quickly puts the man and his two brothers who joined him down. Then he tries to help the woman and the child with her.
Vince Beaumont's assistant is attacked in her home and tortured until she gives info about his wife's schedule. Two armed men shoot at his wife and children in a mall, hitting the wife and killing one of his sons.
Meanwhile on the other side of the country Nathan's father, sister and niece come under attack in Washington DC. Nathan's sister makes sure her daughter is ok then goes after the gunmen herself.
There is plenty more but I don't think you want to hear the whole story from me! The action is nonstop!! This book is super fast paced. The story is great but there are unexpected tragedies.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONS.

Thank You.

Leave Trump out

Leave Trump out or your apt to fail in your efforts to sell more books.
Use the president instead.

What a letdown

I have loved this series and was so looking forward to its release. I enjoy this genres of fiction and understand that it attracts conservative readers as well as conservative authors. I am one myself. But this book is nothing but a propaganda sheet for Trumps agenda. Border security “check” , Mexicans are Murderers and rapists “check”, Fake news “check” Illegal immigration is ruining the country “check”, and Trump has a great relationship with the Mexican president no matter what the media says. Most military adventure novelists use fictional presidents partially because the story is fiction. Partially not to offend there readers. This one is complete fiction and I am offended. Unfortunately this will be my last Andrew Peterson book and I am sorry for that!

Outstanding! RECOMMENDED!!

I listened to HIRED TO KILL by Andrew Peterson immediately after completing Spymaster by Brad Thor which I liked. Since both novels are of the espionage/terrorism genre, comparing them is natural. HIRED TO KILL has a stronger plot and vastly better narration than Brad Thor's novel. It seems to me that Andrew Peterson is now firmly placed among the elite of the espionage thriller genre. Dick Hill's narration is fabulous!

well out

The ending seemed superfluous and silly. Pres Trump praising his intelligence branch?
Not believable. The ending left a bad taste in my mouth, after an interesting story. Please leave your political agenda out of the story.

Propaganda disguised as a novel

I've done 3 Nathan McBride books, and this one will be my last. It's pure political propaganda for the current president. I also might mention that it promulgates the very dangerous idea of anointed warriors of God. I'm done with Andrew Peterson. But, of course, Dick Hill is great.

Not an enjoyable listen

This book felt contrived. Story was embarrassing to listen to. Then when they gave the President a name and said what he was doing it became laughable. Definitely NOT what I have come to expect. It was touchy feely not enough action. A total disappointment !

Pathetic

McBride alternated between whining and sanctimony. Author’s approval of #45 unfathomable. Gawdawful dialogue and story line.
