Description

Book 3 in the Eisenhorn series.

Inquisitor Eisenhorn returns, and this time he’s on the edge of treachery. How far can he go before he crosses the line and becomes what he is sworn to hunt?

Listen to It Because:

Eisenhorn seeks the truth behind a string of disappearances centred around a travelling carnival and a pictographer whose images are more than they seem. Inquisitor Eisenhorn has saved worlds and beaten bad guys galore, in short, he's a hero. But he's also done some dodgy things, and they're coming back to haunt him... His struggle to justify his actions (especially the daemon summoning) make this an incredibly compelling read and rounds off the trilogy perfectly.

The Story:

Hunted by his former allies as a radical and enemy of the Imperium, Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn must fight to prove that he remains loyal as he tracks down a dangerous heretic whom the Inquisition believes dead, the dread former Inquisitor Quixos. As he grows more desperate for victory, Eisenhorn uses ever darker means to achieve his goals, but how far can he go using the weapons of the enemy until he becomes that very enemy, and no different to the traitor he hunts?

A story you will remember

A story with characters you will love and miss. The story of Gregor Eisenhorn is one worth listening to. Keeps you pinned and keep listening. Great character developments and storytelling. Best 40k story ive heard so far.

Story falls Short

Although the performance of the piece has gotten better, the story is weak. Eisenhorn's descent into the chaotic abyss isn't nuanced and is just over the top, while the character attempts to convince himself that he is doing the right thing is eye rolling. Frankly, it just feels relatively out of character, and immersion breaking. If you have to spend half the book telling your readers......I'm doing this for the right reasons....it gets old quick. Overall, an incredible weak story with a rushed ending and a half-assed throwback villain. Read or Listen to the first book and enjoy. I truly believe Dan Abbot outdid himself on Xenos.

This was Tough

This isn't like the first two. This story is a hard one. I hated every moment that went by. It was painful. I don't mean the writing or narration; they were just as great, as is to be expected. The story was well done too. However, that story hurt. A lot.

Dramatic, Gripping, Sometimes Sad

I won't spoil it, but this one was a real pageturner! Or so it would be, had I bought this in Print. It is dramatic, fun, action packed yet very tragic! The only complaint I have is maybe a rushed conclusion. Tons of build up and its a hell of a ride, but the final encounter sort of just ends. Great book though! Highly reccomend!

A bit repetitive after the first two books

Repeats same style as the first two books. Especially the second. Nice enough but not amazing.

Great Trilogy

A great final of the Eisenhorn trilogy, although the story gets a little bit too fast at the end. Would recommend it anyway!

Abnett + Longworth = Epicness

The 3 Eisenhorn Books read by Londworth are just epic. I dont know how often I listend to them... it just wont get boring. Longhworth creates such a vibrant atmosphere around the characters! It is just perfect!
