    Description

Book 3 in the Eisenhorn series.

Inquisitor Eisenhorn returns, and this time he’s on the edge of treachery. How far can he go before he crosses the line and becomes what he is sworn to hunt?

    Listen to It Because:

Eisenhorn seeks the truth behind a string of disappearances centred around a travelling carnival and a pictographer whose images are more than they seem. Inquisitor Eisenhorn has saved worlds and beaten bad guys galore, in short, he's a hero. But he's also done some dodgy things, and they're coming back to haunt him... His struggle to justify his actions (especially the daemon summoning) make this an incredibly compelling read and rounds off the trilogy perfectly.

    The Story:

Hunted by his former allies as a radical and enemy of the Imperium, Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn must fight to prove that he remains loyal as he tracks down a dangerous heretic whom the Inquisition believes dead, the dread former Inquisitor Quixos. As he grows more desperate for victory, Eisenhorn uses ever darker means to achieve his goals, but how far can he go using the weapons of the enemy until he becomes that very enemy, and no different to the traitor he hunts?

    Addictive

Book 1 was good, book two was amazing, book 3 was fenomenal… I was “in the edge of my seat” the WHOLE way through.
It was like a gripping series season that you just HAVE to watch the next episode.
I was using these books to listen going from place to place… but this one I couldn’t stop, I was listening during work, in the shower, cooking… It’s been a long time since something gripped my attention that much.

And Toby Longworth performance is off the charts… there’s like 40-50 brute dudes along the trilogy and he manages to give each one a characteristic and distinctive voice. Amazing.

By the Emperor it was good!

Perfect finale for the previous books, well written, well concluded.

Eisenhorn comes to face his responsibilities in this last opus. Does the end justify the means?
This is a breathtaking story of despair, struggle, and questionable choices.

    Will listen again!

    A story you will remember

A story with characters you will love and miss. The story of Gregor Eisenhorn is one worth listening to. Keeps you pinned and keep listening. Great character developments and storytelling. Best 40k story ive heard so far.

    Story falls Short

Although the performance of the piece has gotten better, the story is weak. Eisenhorn's descent into the chaotic abyss isn't nuanced and is just over the top, while the character attempts to convince himself that he is doing the right thing is eye rolling. Frankly, it just feels relatively out of character, and immersion breaking. If you have to spend half the book telling your readers......I'm doing this for the right reasons....it gets old quick.
Overall, an incredible weak story with a rushed ending and a half-assed throwback villain. Read or Listen to the first book and enjoy. I truly believe Dan Abbot outdid himself on Xenos.

    Rambling, poorly researched, easily forgotten

The author clearly has little understanding of the source material. A celebrated inquisitor of the Ordo Zenos who doesn't know what an Eldar aspect warrior is? Who deals more with demons than Aliens? Hangs with Untouchables despite numerous sources stating the he shouldn't even be able to physically stand being near them. Even in the multi shaped puzzle that is the 40K novel universe, this series just doesn't fit.

an alright ending to the trilogy

narrator is great. overall it was ok but this was probably my least favorite of the trilogy.

pros: ties story archs all together from previous books. takes a few interesting turns.

cons: too many last second saves from an ally who shows up just in time out of nowhere. his companions were much less interesting this time.

still worth a listen though in my opinion

    This was Tough

This isn't like the first two. This story is a hard one. I hated every moment that went by. It was painful. I don't mean the writing or narration; they were just as great, as is to be expected. The story was well done too. However, that story hurt. A lot.

    Dan Annett Got Bored

The first two books were extremely fun and enjoyable with an interesting story that wasn't too predictable or cliche. Hereticus seems like Dan got bored of Gregor and was obviously more interested in Ravenor at this point. He trys to redefine Gregor which doesn't work for me at all with the completely out of left field romance. I am not saying that I don't like the idea of these long lived law men needing companionship, but it didn't work at all. Felt like filler and that he was out of ideas in the Eisenhorn saga. The whole premise of this book just didn't work for me. What makes Eisenhorn cool is that he has a demon whom he can summon, and also consults Pontius. Pontius was the coolest part of the story and Toby did fantastic with him. The whole crumpling network he has groomed this whole time and it falls apart so easily and the only reason is that it is easy to transition Pontius to be the villain. What. A. Waste. I wanted an interesting detective story and not a book full of easy and convenient plot conventions.

    Heretic!

I really loved this series sad to see it end! I felt like the ending of all three books seemed rushed and thrown together. but they were still enjoyable

    Abnett + Longworth = Epicness

The 3 Eisenhorn Books read by Londworth are just epic. I dont know how often I listend to them... it just wont get boring. Longhworth creates such a vibrant atmosphere around the characters! It is just perfect!

    Great Trilogy

A great final of the Eisenhorn trilogy, although the story gets a little bit too fast at the end. Would recommend it anyway!

A fitting end to the trilogy

A wild ride, closing out the trilogy of Eisenhorn books. Toby Longworth as VA is a treat, as always.
