When the world of Armageddon is attacked by orks, the Black Templars Space Marine Chapter are amongst those sent to liberate it. Chaplain Grimaldus and a band of Black Templars are charged with the defence of Hive Helsreach from the xenos invaders in one of the many battle zones.

But as the orks' numbers grow and the Space Marines' numbers dwindle, Grimaldus faces a desperate last stand in an Imperial temple. Determined to sell their lives dearly, will the Black Templars hold on long enough to be reinforced, or will their sacrifice ultimately be in vain?

Loved learning more about the black templars and this audiobook also features the imperial guard, imperial knights, and battle sisters and many other imperial forces and ad mech. Reallly great novel as well as audio performance. Will definitely listen to more by Jonathan keeble as well as Aaron Dembski-Bowden! highly recommended

been casually following the Warhammer 40k universe for about a year through YouTube videos.
this was my first Warhammer 40k (audio)book

i liked the story, it tries to bring the massive scale of the war and it's machines into words. which it sometimes succeeds at.

only thing I didn't like is the ending. it isn't stated what happens next. it all ends a bit to abruptly, as if they noticed the book was already too long and had to cut some of it out.
I've read this is often the case in Warhammer 40k, nonetheless a great book, does honour to the valor shown from the characters

Incredible book narrated with soul and passion! It is one of the best you can listen to

Absolutely incredible novel, written by one of the best writter from the Black library, and the legend Johnathan Keeble as narrator. I really loved the ton and hoe he voiced Grimaldus, giving depth and charisma to the Reclusiarch beyond expectations.
