Stock transporter Tobie Mason is driving a trio of valuable thoroughbred racing mares from Kentucky to a California farm when her rig becomes involved in a multiple vehicle pileup, and the most valuable of the three escapes to join a herd of wild horses. Maggie Wilkes has been tracking and keeping records on the area's wild horse herds since she was old enough to ride.
