Two different people, three different lives. Jack and Diane meet by chance in an art gallery in Kansas City. They fall in love for life and marry still young. But before their second anniversary, Diane vanishes, sending Jack on a desperate search to find her, holding fast to any glimmer of hope. That hope is rewarded after ten years, and what Jack learns will push the limits of what he is willing to do to get back the love of his life.
Gone is a tale of heroes, both sung and unsung. A profoundly moral tale set in a profoundly amoral context. It is a story of nearly monumental faithfulness set in the midst of a culture which has long ago forgotten the meaning of the word.
