Description

Brad is great at meeting other people's expectations. But his own? Not so much. Take the gay thing. Okay, so yeah. It took a morning meeting with a frat brother's hairy, naked ass for him to admit it, but he knows the truth about himself now. Let the gay life commence.

Unfortunately, it's not that easy. He hasn't quite determined how to come out to anyone, even Sebastian, the geeky-hot TA in his history class. Sebastian is everything Brad is not. Intellectual, suave, hairy. Out. And he doesn't seem interested in Brad, even when Brad makes a fool of himself trying to catch his notice.

Score one for foolery: Sebastian does more than notice Brad; he takes him to bed. Brad's been with plenty of girls, but with Sebastian, the sex is something else entirely - hot, mind-blowing, affirming, and a little domineering in a way that drives him wild. But when great sex turns into something more - dare he admit the "L" word? - Brad must face the crushing realization that Sebastian doesn't feel the same. Unless, of course, he does. After all, even grad students can be idiots about matters of the heart.

LOVED it! The audio just makes it that much better

*4.5 stars*

*Third time re-read, this time in audio format!*

Holy crap, this was an excellent audiobook.

Frat Boy and Toppy is one of my comfort reads, and I find myself coming back to it time and time again when I need a pick-me-up. For me, it is a nearly perfect combo of sweet, hot, and light, and I could read it all day, every day. I was a little wary about how I would feel about the audio version. I've had MANY awesome books ruined by a terrible narration. I shouldn't have worried because Nick J. Russo absolutely slam-dunked the reading of this story. He just killed it. You go, bb!!

This book is a fun book about a college frat boy coming to terms with his sexuality. Brad isn't one to dwell or angst over it, though. No, he is the type to get... experimental... and then make a decision. I just LOVED Brad, and I love him more and more with each re-read. Nick J. Russo did a perfect Brad voice, as well as a perfect Sebastian voice, and he made those hot sex scenes even hotter.

I love the light kink in this story. Brad is a total bottom, and I LOVE how turned on he gets by ass-play. There is also some light D/s play that is exactly the kind that I like. YUM.

This book isn't a thinker. It's a total enjoyment read that will MAKE. YOU. SMILE. It is a book that I will continue to read/listen to every single time I have a bad day and I doubt my ability to love a book again. It's short and sweet and everything this girl needs in her life.

Humorous and Heartwarming College Age Romance

If you could sum up Frat Boy and Toppy in three words, what would they be?

Adorable, Fun, Hot

What did you like best about this story?

Brad's journey.
Brad goes from unsure about his sexuality and about what he wants to do with his life even while living a lie all the way to certainty and direction. He knew what would make him happy and didn't let fear or complications turn him aside. And he was adorable and endearing through it all.

What does Nick J. Russo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

As I have actually both read and listened to the book, I can say with certainty that he most definitely adds to this story. His interpretation of character voices, pace, emotion and overall story lined up with what I already had in my head from when I read it. I also felt that many things got some extra sparkle and notice that didn't stand out for me before.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, Sebastian's epiphany about love.

All along, Sebastian swears he doesn't know what it is and definitely doesn't feel it. He has his example of a broken home and his own long string of strictly physical and quick ending hook-ups. He doesn't even realize what the reader does once Brad is in his life. So it was extra sweet when he finally gets it and has to fix what he broke.

Any additional comments?

The author has a good grasp of the Theta Alpha Gamma world she created and portrays it with humor, but warmth. Her cast of characters all are interesting. It will be fun to get more of the series.

Music to my ears!

Would you listen to Frat Boy and Toppy again? Why?

Heck yes! I loved the characters, storyline and narration.

What other book might you compare Frat Boy and Toppy to and why?

Several of Cardeno C's short stories. The writing and character development are similar.

Which character – as performed by Nick J. Russo – was your favorite?

Brad. I really enjoyed travelling along inside his head while he figured out who he was and what he wanted.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes indeed and I sure did!

Any additional comments?

Brad is a clueless jock. I don't say that as an insult, the guy is literally unawares that he is gay. It's not a closeted or not coming out due to fear thing. I especially liked this scenario with this book. So, Brad starts to notice little things about the teachers aide in one of his classes. And even as he realizes it's attraction, he is still running this inner monologue with himself which turns into a type of self discovery as he realizes he's gay.

Sebastian first takes notice of Brad when he has to council him on buying a paper online and turning it in as his own. It's odd to Sebastian when Brad doesn't argue with him or try to lie. His interest is piqued. When these two first come together, Sebastian is certain it's a one off, but Brad has set his sites on the hot teaching assistant and not only wants him to teach him the art of gay , he wants so much more.

I was so engrossed in this story that I was listening to it at work, in the car driving home, while I was doing laundry... I seriously could not stop listening until I finished. As I mentioned above, I liked the way Brad's personality and journey of self discovery was presented. Nick J Russo's narration was pristine, let me tell you. If there had been no personality description or certain characteristics laid out in the writing of these two characters, I would have still known them because of the way they were voiced. Definitely a must for anyone that likes the genre, Author or Narrator, but I think readers that enjoy stories about self discovery and not so perfect journeys to a HEA will enjoy this one as well.

-sigh- This story has me all twisted up in happiness.

"I'm your best friend, I have to come to terms with this sh*t."

The story was mostly the exploration of enjoying sex There were some really beautiful moments between Sebastian and Brad though

💖 "Is there a word for a guy f*g hag?" 💖

But d*mn if this wasn't one of the most romantic erotica's ever.

Great narration!

Any additional comments?

This is just a really enjoyable story with great narration, humor, hot sex, and likable characters. Nick J. Russo gives a great performance and, I thought, totally nailed both Brad, as the unsure coming to terms with his sexuality frat boy, and Sebastian as the older, more experienced, seen it all TA. Also, he makes the sex scenes in this fan-worthy.

I absolutely love Brad and all his awkward “yep, I’m gay” experimentation. Russo perfectly captures the journey he takes with Sebastian from crush, to lovers, to love, to confusion, and back to love.

This was a sweet, funny, fast read with great characters. My only complaint about this story is that I would have liked to have gotten a less rushed ending.

Totally humorous, filled with sexiness and hot lovemaking, with great main and side characters, and terrific narration. Recommended!

An Entertaining Story with a Brilliant Narration.

Re-listening for the third time on 1/17/2020

I, know ! I am late to Frat Boy and Toppy party.

Over the years, so many book buddies have recommended it me and finally, I listened to it through my Audible Escape membership . And I am here to say, I LOVED this charming , steamy, low angst , sweet Rom-Com.

What makes it even more special, it's Nick J. Russo awesome narration. His pleasant, natural sounding voice , his clever use of variations in pacing and his clear enunciation, makes and elevate this audiobook into a joyful and entertaining experience.

Light, easy, fun read.

I'm just going to get this out of the way- sometimes I do judge a book by its title, and this is one of them. If my cousin hadn't recommended Frat Boy and Toppy to me I probably would have passed it up, based on the title alone. But I'm glad she did because it turned out to be a fun listen.
This is Brad's story of coming out, and as fun as it was, I also found it quite endearing. I liked that there wasn't a lot of drama, and that things with Sebastian didn't drag out.
I laughed out loud multiple times, mostly when Kyle was involved! The scene in particular when Brad came out to him had me cracking up! I was glad he had a friend like him, the scene at the frat meeting was classic.
I really enjoyed Nick Russo's narrating. especially his portrayal of Brad- it was a nice mix of vulnerable, goofy, and adorable. The rest of the characters were nicely done as well, each one having a distinct voices so there was no getting anyone confused.
I'm looking forward to listening to more in this series!
