    Description

With his raven hair and snow-white skin, Lord Ansil Eirwin draws unwanted attention wherever he goes. After his father’s untimely death, Ansil is set to become Duke of Ravenswood on his next birthday. The gallant and timid lord would never dream of shirking responsibility, so he subverts his desires in order to please his mother and new stepfather, Reginald.

Orien Moore, known as the Huntsman, lives on the fringes and has forsaken close bonds with anyone, even the misfits he has taken in. When Orien is called upon by his brother, Reginald, to kill the pampered future duke, it is the perfect opportunity to seek revenge against his power-hungry brother. Orien formulates a plan to use Reginald’s vicious request to his advantage by kidnapping Ansil and holding him hostage until he can fulfill his birthright.

Soon Orien realizes that Ansil is nothing like he’d expected. Kind and joyful, Ansil enchants Orien and his ragtag group. And Ansil, in turn, cannot help but be curious about the gruff huntsman as Orien’s vulnerabilities are exposed. Their mutual interest transforms into affection, followed by overwhelming desire. But they are living on borrowed time.

With Reginald seeking power in Ravenswood, they have no way of knowing what will transpire once Orien returns Ansil to his proper place in society. The only certainty is that the odds are stacked against them. Will the young lord and his huntsman ever have the chance to experience the happily ever after they’ve found in each other’s arms?

Please note: Forever Moore is a romantic fairy tale - minus the magic - that features one reluctant lord, one brooding huntsman, and plenty of angsty, forbidden love. It’s loosely based on a treasured fairy tale in a make-believe setting that isn’t part of any specific time period and doesn’t play by any traditional rules.

It also completely stands alone from the first book in the Forbidden Love series. You do not have to listen to one to enjoy the other. They are completely separate worlds.

My own fault for buying this

I did read the blurb before buying this, so I'm not sure why I thought this would be anything other than a straight woman's gay abduction/rape fantasy. I guess that's on me.

    A visit to Cheese City

I alternated between reading and listening to this book. I enjoyed the story until about half way in when it took a left turn into Cheese City. I’m not sure if it would have felt that way if I was reading it, but the sincerity of the narrator made me cringe while listening.

    It's okay.

Before I go into my review, I have to admit that I am pretty harsh when it comes to M/M Romance books; I do not read regular romance at all, but I'm a gay man, so I like the occasional story about love.

Forever Moore is the story of Snow White and the Huntsman where Snow White is a guy. Ansil Eirwin is to become the duke of Ravenswood; for the past few years, his mother has reigned as the duchess after Ansil's father past away. Ansil's step-father, Reginald, has never been a caring person toward him, but he never got a sinister feeling from him. Eventually, he finds out that his step-father has been lying to him and his mother the entire time. The book switches perspectives from Ansil to Orien, Reginald's brother, who's the huntsman. Reginald hires Orien to kill the future duke, so that he will become the duke instead of his step-son. Orien hates his brother so, instead of killing Ansil, he kidnaps him and brings him to the manor where he lives until Ansil's birthright at the age of twenty-one comes in a few months and then return Ansil to his mother. At first, Orien seems like a terrible person and is a monster, keeping Ansil prisoner for reasons he won't divulge and keeps him locked away. Eventually, Ansil becomes friends with everyone in the manor and even Orien starts feeling a kinship toward the "little Lord." Then, the lines blur between their relationship and it becomes apparent that there is definitely something between the future duke and the hunstman.

I can get a book like this size finished in usually two weeks at the most, but it took me six months to get this one finished. My problem is that nothing really happens besides at the beginning and then at the end. There can be romance books with actual things happening. Eighty percent of this book is the transition of Ansil being a prisoner to the relationship. Even the "exciting" parts are so-so. Now, all of this sounds like I hated the book, but it's not true. I liked the relationship between the two and it fit into the fairy tale-esque story line. I found it entertaining and good, in a cheesy sort of way.

The book, overall, gets a B- from me and the narrator, Kale Williams, did a wonderful job and gets an A-.

    Ho-hum

It was fine, but it was slow. I'll give it a second read later on.

    Vanilla Sugar

The author did a good job adapting this fairy tale into something more interesting and gay-er. However, I was never terribly interested in Snow White. It was very sweet and very vanilla which is pretty far away from the whips and chains I usually read about. The narrator did a good job.

    Enchanting, and absolute romantic perfection!

Magical! Absolutely swoon-worthy, incredibly romantic and highly original retelling of Snow White.

I was so glad that this particular raven-haired beauty still had one of his parents and grew up relatively happy. The abduction and Orien’s initial rather boorish behavior made for a surprising change of pace in this fairy-tale environment, which I very much enjoyed. I also loved the gradual build-up of sensual awareness as well as the sweet emotional connection that slowly formed between Ansil and Orien. Orien’s sexual orientation was another very welcome surprise.

I think it’s great how the authors have once again set their fairy-tale in an imaginary world that offers such a splendid mix of historical & modern day elements. Orien’s seven companions were all brilliant and utterly lovable, though I for one am a fan of Gaius and Arya ;-)

The only thing that bugged me a little was the way in which the villain was disposed of, it reeked of cruelty & vengeance rather than justice. I prefer my heroes to aim to be the bigger person.

All in all, though, this was an amazing love story. I absolutely recommend it.

Kale Williams was the perfect narrator for this book! I loved what he did with it, the way he brought the characters to life and all the unique, distinct voices he gave each and every single character. His smooth, elegant voice and amazing performance made this into a wonderful listening experience.

    Beautiful fairy tale

    4 Blue Roses
    4 Blue Flames

Narrator Kale Williams will carry you away to the land of far, far away, where the Huntsman and his Prince find their happily ever after. Kale's extraordinary sweet and smoky voice has me addicted and swooning for all his audiobooks. Lately, the man just gives me goosebumps as soon as he says "Chapter one". Christina Lee and Riley Hart has outdone themselves, bringing a very well known fairy tale to life in the M/M genre. Some of the elements in the book were borrowed and twisted very skillfully, so it kept me guessing and interested in the plot. It's definitely worth listening to.
I recommend this audiobook for when you are in the mood for some sweet loving and easy listening.

    Happy Listening
