Description

The secret to finding out anything you want to know is amazingly simple: Ask good questions. Most people trip through life asking bad questions - of teachers, friends, coworkers, clients, prospects, experts, and suspects. Even people trained in questioning, such as journalists and lawyers, commonly ask questions that get partial or misleading answers.

People in any profession will immediately benefit by developing the skill and art of good questioning. Find Out Anything From Anyone, Anytime will give you the power to:

  • Identify and practice good questioning techniques
  • Recognize types of questions to avoid
  • Know the questions required when hearing
  • Unconfirmed reports or gossip
  • Practice good listening techniques and exploit all leads
  • Determine when and how to control the conversation
  • Gain real expertise fast

Within professional interrogation circles, Pyle is known as a strategic debriefer - meaning there is no one around him more skilled at asking questions and getting answers. He has been training other interrogators in questioning techniques since 1989.

Commentaires

"With his style of questioning alone, Jim Pyle can get more information than most other interrogators using multiple techniques." (Gregory Hartley, coauthor of the best-seller How to Spot a Liar)

Good book. Bad narration.

Any additional comments? I like what the book said. But I did not like how it was said. Actually: The performance of the narrator is so bad that I felt the need to write this - my first ever audible review - to warn others that they should choose book over audio this time. Instead I bought the book for my kindle so I could read it there. The book itself is informative, practical, in all: Good. Especially recommended for negotiators who wants to improve their questioning techniques to extract information and/or evaluate credibility.

Reader speaks fast and 3/4 speed doesn't help

The book has great information and I'll probably buy the paperback for reference.

The reader spoke too fast. You can tell this is his normal speed, so it's likely he lives in New York city. Sad part is that the audible iPhone app at 3/4 speed made the vocal cadence about right but produced a horrendous echo effect that was even more distracting. Get this on your free credit if you've got nothing better in your wish list, otherwise buy the hard copy for a better experience.

2 Stars. Rambles On and On for Eight Chapters.

2 Stars. Rambles On and On and On and On for Eight Chapters with examples, and examples, and examples, of how late night show hosts, news reporters, sports reporters, political leaders, etc. ask questions, but the author never gets to the point on how to effectively ask the "who, what, where, when, why, and how" questions to "Find Out Anything From Anyone, Anytime". Got as far as the beginning of Chapter 8, when that chapter... again, starts out with, even more examples, and the book still hasn't provided any expertise or insight, on how to actually "Find Out Anything From Anyone, Anytime". Stopped after the beginning of Chapter 8. Very disappointing. Will be returning this audio book, if this option is still available.

Excellent listen

I really enjoyed the near raider both in cadence and tone. It was extremely enjoyable to listen to. I would recommend this book to fall in law-enforcement investigation’s and those interested in discovering all they are curious about.

One, but useful concept

... repeated many times: put open-ended questions whenever possible. Many examples how to avoid "dead-end" questions.

good information and plenty to learn from, but the narrator speaks a bit faster than usual.
