    Another Great Black Library Book

A great look into the Adeptus Sororitas. This book delves into the fabric of what makes them the "Daughters of the Emperor".

    Sustain

This is a story all about how a sister gets her life flipped upside down, this’ll just take a minute so sit right there how I tell about this sister and her faith in the Emperor.

Good story, a nice surprise twist and filled with action and suspenseful situations. A new appreciation for the sister saroritas.

    Too much expectation?

I started this right after listening to "The Flight of The Eisenstein" also by James Swallow. I loved "The Flight of The Eisenstein" it was an excellent sequel to the first three Horus Heresy book. I also love the lore of the Battle Sisters. So I figured this would be an excellent story. It wasn't excellent, but it wasn't bad. It did suffer what I call the "Star Wars effect" in that something horrible happens, but if it didn't you wouldn't have a story. The only thing is that it happens quite often. I feel like this could have been, maybe two chapters shorter. There were parts that made me SMH. Like why. Why would they do that?

As for the narrator, she did a great job voice acting the story. Although I would highly recommend you listen with headphones as when the character whispers, so does she.

Overall, I would read another story about Battle Sisters, by James Swallow or narrated by Emma Gregory. Maybe this wasnt the right mix for me.

    Duty and devotion.

One would expect a story featuring the Sisters of Battle to be filled with pious dialogue, devotion to duty, and an unrelenting drive to hunt down the Witch in the name of the Emperor.

They would be correct in that assumption.

Following a squad of Sisters, you journey to a world steeped in the faith of the Imperium; you will witness the Sisters in combat and in contemplation, and you will not be disappointed.

Sound like something you might enjoy? Good, then may the light of the Emperor guide you as you embark upon your journey.

    Meh, it was fine.

Meh, it was fine. It has a mystery but it was boring more often then not for me. I'm still glad I listened to it but there are way better books out there. Maybe the sequel in better. I'll find out.

    Fantastic Narration and great writing

First audiobook, first Warhammer 40K book, was fantastic. Listened to it during my commutes to work. The narration was incredible.

    Would recommend

    Pleasantly surprised

I'm not going to lie when I say I'm a little biased based on the fact that I'm in love with this faction on the table top side of the fandom. As I almost binged the entire book in one sitting trying to paint a squad of retributors. I'm not an expert in 40K lore , however , I think there's enough action and mystery in this book to warrant a listen. The narrator kills her performance, supplying several voices for different characters, while the setting and characters (mainly moriah and her dynamic with variety) kept me interested throughout the entire adventure. The final battle between the Adepta Sororitas , and the big bad is a little short . But that's a small complaint for my overall satisfaction with the book. I hope this review helps you find your niche in the fandom, and remember, in the 41st millennium know only war 🤙🏼

    entertaining enough

This audio book was solid. I thought the narration was very good. Emma Gregory played the different characters well, giving them life through her portrayal. The story was fun, for me the highlight being the battle scenes. The ending fell a little flat for me, but it kind of lends itself to the endless war of the far future theme of 40k. Overall I liked the book, but it wasn't the type I couldn't stop listening to, but I can see myself listening again.
