À propos de ce contenu audio

Legendary story teller Stephen King goes into the deepest well of his imagination in this spellbinding novel about a seventeen-year-old boy who inherits the keys to a parallel world where good and evil are at war, and the stakes could not be higherfor their world or ours.

Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a hit-and-run accident when he was 10, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. Then, when Charlie is 17, he meets a dog named Radar and his aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from it.

Charlie starts doing jobs for Mr. Bowditch and loses his heart to Radar. Then, when Bowditch dies, he leaves Charlie a cassette tape telling a story no one would believe. What Bowditch knows, and has kept secret all his long life, is that inside the shed is a portal to another world.

King's storytelling in Fairy Tale soars. This is a magnificent and terrifying tale about another world than ours, in which good is pitted against overwhelming evil, and a heroic boy—and his dog—must lead the battle.

This is a wonderfully written and wonderfully read story! One can only be in awe in front of Mr King's rich and compelling imaginary universe(s).
Thank you to the both of you, dear Mr King and dear Mr Numrich, for the pleasure you've offered me and your lucky readers.

One of my best Audible reading experience ever!

Wonderful, epic, reminiscent of his best tales of quests and magic, but without the horror. Loved every minute.

Classic Stephen King

I’ve always loved Stephen King so maybe I’m not that fair in my comments. But this one so far has been one of my favorite King’s stories from the past decades. I’m very into fairy tales, so that helps, but what also made this experience amazing is how Seth Numrich reads the story!
For the people who listen to a lot of audiobooks, you probably know how the voice actor makes the whole difference. His was fantastic!

Brilliant

Sloppy writing . If it wasn't Stephen King it wouldn't have been published.
There is an abyss between the first and the second part of the book. Complete tangent that is "justified" in the book with "I told you, you wouldn't believe me". It could have been much better had the author actually spent time tying the lose threads of the fairy tales and less on repetition. It is absolutely full of tropes, and the excuse of "we're in a fairy tale" is not enough to excuse it. It feels rushed.

The performing actor is ok, it is quite monotonous, not much vigour.

If it was not Stephen King, it would get 1/5
