Description

Don't trust lust at first sight. One woman chooses reality over fantasy in this friends-to-lovers romance, a steamy standalone by "an author to keep your eye on". (Katee Robert).

Jacqueline: As an adult woman - and the vice president of a marketing firm - I shouldn't be waiting by my office window to ogle the mystery man who jogs by every morning at 11:45. Sure, he's a gorgeous, perfect specimen of the human race, but I can't bring myself to hit on a total stranger. However, my best friend-slash-colleague Vince Carson thinks I should do more than talk to the guy. In fact, he's borderline obsessive about "getting me laid". (His words.) But the more time we spend together, the more it's clear: The one I'm falling for is Vince.

Vince: Jackie Butler's got it bad for some pompous, over-pumped A-hole who struts his stuff past her window. That doesn't bother me. I know she deserves nice things. What does bother me is that she friend-zoned me big-time last year, so I can't ask her out myself. But what if I set her up with Mr. Steroids? Then, when he breaks her heart, I can swoop in and save her like the nice guy I am. Everything's going according to plan...until we share a ridiculously epic kiss. And suddenly, anything is possible.

Critiques

"Truly the perfect romantic comedy - the banter made me grin, the sexual tension had me breathless, and the perfect happy ending left me smiling long after the book was done." ( New York Times best-selling author Lauren Layne)

Sucker for friends to lovers

Fun book with the right amount of chemistry and angst to get to the sweet stuff!

Hidden crushes

Vince went through a bad divorce. For a while he wanted to heal and move on. Especially when he started boticing how pretty his best friend and coworker is. He didnt want her to be a rebound, so he does that quietly. But now that hes ready, her interest has turned toward a very in shape jogger.
Jackie has tried the dating scene. Its not for her. She just doesnt trust men since her ex cheated on her. That left a wound she doesnt think can ever be repaired. And really, isnt she better off just secretly lusting after the jogger?

They work together, and have to navigate some twists and turns, some fairly predictable. It was a good story, but not my favorite story of this type of plot. I would recommend it to others though.

Not Quite!

This story was cute and sweet but the ending was anticlimactic. I don't like the idea that Jackie was the one left to pick up the pieces. Vince was wrong from the beginning by playing games and manipulating her for selfish reasons. She was a little weaker than I care for. When he played dirty to win her affection, then decided to throw her away over his dumb insecurities, she was not angry at all. She just didn't know her self worth.

Nice light listen

Jessica Lemmon writes great characters and interesting, mostly intelligent and likeable characters. The story line for this book was appealing, I always like a good friend to romance book and this one ticked all the boxes.
The only reason I gave it an overall 4 star rating was that the ending felt rushed with a splash of drama, almost as though the author got to the end and realised that the book was nearly through and the hero or heroine had not yet acted like complete morons, so she added it in.
A nice light book to listen to after a long work day

Cute

I thought this book was cute. The narration not so much. The female narrator sounds like a robot and didn’t fit the character in my opinion. The guy was fine.

nice and sweet

Almost didnt listen because of the female narrator but Eric Michael Summerer redeemed the narration. Cute story like most other romantic comedies, well written and sexy. The worst part was the voice of the female narrator though - nasally and at times, robotic.
