But when his wife's young cousin Mattie moves into the house and both she and Ethan are drawn together, it begins a romance that can only end in heartbreak...or tragedy.
One of only two novels Wharton ever created that takes place in a rural setting — most of her novels are set among the New York elite — "Ethan Frome" is now considered an American classic and it is presented here in its original and unabridged format.
