Great voice work

Top notch narration for the story and different characters brought to life. Decent story but im finding it difficult to stay locked in with an abusive relationship between the two main characters...

Not redeeming or charming in the slightest...

I get the overwhelming feeling that this book was not written as a YA novel, but in its language (not just by the rough gruff foul mouthed side-kick) and the overall mentality of the main character... its like following the tales of really young teenagers

Beyond feeling like it was written for kids, it tends to feel like it was written by someone who doesn't have much experience with other adults and being in a healthy relationship (friendship, partnership, ECT.)
It's just odd... again this would make sense if an 11 or 12 year old wrote this believing they know how adults operate within a group, because none of what happened here is anything resembling a real (healthy) interaction.

Couldn't recommend this book to anyone my age or older because I dont know anyone that finds idiocy a charming trait... They purposefully make the main character a dummy. ... ... No really, its a stated point by the god that was responsible for bringing our MC to this new world. For some reason this also includes the instincts of a child. Like oh no, I dont want to get in trouble for breaking this lamp so I'll hide the pieces under the rug...
The main character wishes to be "happy" so the fix is to make her too stupid to realize when she is in real danger, or making a serious mistake. The guiding light of this "wisdom" seeming to be that Ignorance is bliss
...but even in this, the actual writing doesn't provide proof of concept AT ALL. An absurd amount of the main characters lines are whining and complaining.
*** In specific "JUUBBIILLEEEEEEE" ... if you find that annoying at all, you wont make it through this book***


At the other end I would NEVER recommend this to anyone younger (even thought this is clearly Y.A.) because this is a clear example of how to gaslight and verbally abuse someone into believing they are your friend...
The main character (Fresh) meets and ostensibly gets saved by our main side character (Jubilee). From the time of them meeting throughout the entire relationship, Jubilee goes out of her way to say terrible things to MC Fresh. Talks horribly to her calling her all types of names and treats her in a manner that isnt even fit for an animal or an enemy.
Our MC Fresh not only takes in all of this abuse but is whole heartedly convinced that this treatment is friendship and the abuser Jubilee is her best and only friend.
Any kid who thinks they may be different or slower than their piers will read this and assume its ok let someone verbally abuse them every second they want to, as long you dont have any other options available...

This is really bad messaging in a story that's clearly made for kids... even though I feel like i wasnt written as such.

This would honestly be a great story if they could clean up the back and forth between the two main characters, but as is... it's abusive, repetitive , and flatly boring

Couldn't finish

I was hoping it would be similar to Wandering Inn. A MC who is kinda dumb at times, but also brilliant and emotionally engaging. This MC is just dumb and cursed.

Good story bad mc

I actually liked the story but the mc is a bit to much acting like a child all the time. Some parts where done great and I actually laughed but rest was a bit hard.

Fun and Quarky

Kinda like “2 broke girls” meets D&D. It’s a fun story if not a bit slow at times.

Slow start, but finished well

I wanted to give the story 5 stars, but I couldn’t. It was overall a good book, but Fresh was so whiny that it was distracting. I’m totally cool with an MC that’s underpowered and weak, and I liked the setting for the book, I just couldn’t get past the nonstop whining from Fresh. Will I read book 2? Yes, because I want to see where things go and how the characters and story continue to develop. I’m certainly not trying to bash an authors creation, I’m just sharing my thoughts and opinions. Overall it’s a good book, but it’s definitely not going to be everyone’s cup of tea.

If Reccettear was a book.

This book is filled with classic item shop cliches which endear it to those fans of the isekai genre.
If you loved the Reccetear game on Steam or shows like Reincarnated as a slime this book will be great.

some good some bad

The narrator was great. The story was interesting enough. The protagonist is a complete moron, and that is purposeful, not bad writing. I had trouble with her stupidity at times, making the story more frustrating than entertaining. Also her masked friend is an ass, their verbal abuse rivals the protagonists stupidity with similar results to my enjoyment.

The only real literary complaint I have is that the author can get a little too verbose in their descriptions.

Depending on my mood I may get the next installment when it comes out.

so I just have to say yes the book starts off a bit slow and yes I could do with less whining but dam so far I'm really happy with the series so far can not wait until book 2

I enjoyed it it was different from what I usually read but it was really good it was really in the characters are really different and adaptive they have depth I just think of all around good book

I like It

It's something new, the reviews mentioning "Wondering Inn" really set me off. What, do you think because the MC is a girl they are all the same??? Like really??? Anyway, it's something new for me, Was a rough start listening to the first couple of chapters. However, the Performance got soooo much better a few chapters in!!! The story is not what I expected which is great to me! I like shop stories to be honest... just dungeon diving gets boring, I need sustenance from a book with an interesting story that leaves me guessing, and preferably without major MC deaths... almost quit when that thing happened towards the end, I won't spoil. I'm on board for the long hall, glad I finally made time to listen to this one!!
