Description
In the darkness they lurk, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Danger is everywhere, and not even Quinton can protect me. Someone wants me dead and they’ll do anything to achieve their goal.
I’m back to being a rat scurrying through the halls of Corium and I know it won’t be long till I’m caught in a trap.
The only question is, can I save myself this time?
This is a dark bully romance including many triggers. For a complete list of triggers, please contact the authors or follow the link in the author's notes.
This is book two of a trilogy. King of Corium must be listened to prior to Drop Dead Queen.

I want more for Aspen
Quinton needs to toughen up and be the protector we signed on for.
Absolutely check your triggers. The end of this book is brutal. I don’t even know how to bounce back from this.
The narrators are great!

Less steep of a cliffy here but far more intense!!
I don't really know where to start with this one. The end of Book 1 had me in total shock and freaking out, and the end of Book 2 was somehow even worse but because it was so brutal! The relationship between Aspen and Quinton is developing and they certainly aren't communicating, but it's been interesting trying to play the 'do they tolerate each other today' game. I like how Q's actions have allowed A to take a breather in a lot of ways (although there are still absolutely awful people she has to deal with daily). Definitely dark (check your TWs if you have them), definitely cranked up the steam or at least frequency of activities in this one (hello possessive exhibitionism). Up until the last hour 1/2 or so of the book it was all about the relationship, but the last leg of the story was a chaotic jumble of emotions and trauma and I still don't really know how I feel about it. I clearly need to finish the story though. Narration was great as it was in book 1, however I did have a bit of an issue with a side character who was given an accent by one narrator and not the other, so that kind of took me out of those moments. Regardless, it was an intense story and I definitely am hooked into these characters lives and need to see how it all ends!

Crash and Burn
Another insane cliffhanger! 😳 I... my heart... 💔
I really can't say anything else because that ending has rendered me speechless.
I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Zara Eden and Connor Brown. Both were great.

Aspen and Quinton
I started book 2 directly upon finishing book 1. Again, an excellent story that is well written and very engrossing. It is dark, and many might find the topics to be too disturbing. Disliked that it ended on a cliffhanger, good thing I had book 2 downloaded and ready to go. The narration was excellent. I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Deliciously dark.
This installment picks up right where book 1 left off, so it’s a bit of excitement for a while there. But then things are pretty much back to normal, with a somewhat new dynamic. Aspen’s situation is worse … despite a few things that should’ve made it better having come to light. I’m impressed with the authors’ ability to do this and as a result, keep me just as interested for another installment. There’s clearly some skill here and I’ve now found myself wanting to explore their other reads.
“It took me until now to realize… I’m falling in love with my enemy.”
This one’s even darker than the first one—not at first but it definitely ends up that way. Heed the warning, if you’ve got triggers, but personally, I found it all glorious. Like its predecessor, it ends on a vicious cliffhanger. Be ready with book 3 before you even start this one.
Recommended read … at least for my fellow darklings. 😈 I don’t share spoilers, so I’ll just say: this is how criminals are made, I’m pretty sure. Enjoy!
Overall:
4 stars.

*Continuity issue.
A good editing team/ astute beta readers could’ve helped with this.
We already saw Aspen reading ‘Pretty Little Savage’ by Lucy Smoke in book 1. But now, in book 2, when a friend brings her a copy of the same book, she goes on and on to the reader about how it’s “new” to her. I *love* the shout-out to Lucy in this manner, but it could’ve been done using a different title, so that they still had continuity.
Audio:
👑Features dual narrators.
👑High-quality production, overall. No extraneous sounds, etc.
There were some bits where the narrator sounded far away or under water. They were all brief, not a huge deal in the grand scheme.
