Description

Hot hockey superstar Brent Oliver has it all--good looks, charm, dozens of endorsement deals, and a spectacular career.

Uh, nix that last one.

Brent has the talent and skill that should have his career soaring. But something is wrong. He's lost his hockey mojo and can't get it back.

Enter Aubrey Shelburne, life coach to the stars.

Aubrey's worked with some difficult celebrities, but she's never encountered a guy quite like Brent Oliver.

Or has she?

Seems a reckless night of partying, one that had Aubrey waking up in a strange man's bed, is about to bite her in the a**. That is, if Brent doesn't first.

Fighting an off-the-charts attraction, Aubrey and Brent must learn to work together. But it's not an easy task when they're at each other's throats every minute.

Is this relationship a disaster in the making?

Or is it destiny?

Washboard abs and sex toy mishaps aside, Destiny on Ice is a fun and irreverent romp that'll have you swooning on one page and laughing on the next.

Cute, fun, and witty sports romance!

Cute, fun, and witty sports romance!

When I started this book, I thought it was going to be the typical "player is a bad boy, team hires woman to date him, they fall in love and live happily ever after" and was a little hesitant to continue. I'm glad I decided to stick with it because, even though it kind of followed that path, it was missing one huge aspect that would make it like ever other book. That missing piece made this all the more appealing for me and I couldn't put it down. Do you want to know what that missing part is? You will have to read for yourself to find out!

Fun Hockey Romance

What did you love best about Destiny on Ice?

That Brent was mostly on board with the life coaching, he did his best to be the best hockey player he could be.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Al and Brent 51. These 2 are wonderfully fun and green!

Have you listened to any of Tracy Marks’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't, but when I do in the future I'll know that I'm in for a wonderful performance!

Any additional comments?

Entertaining and interesting story, and the writing is on point. The hockey aspect is fun, and these characters get into some wacky scenarios, which adds to the bit of humor in this story. Brent, a hockey player, hasn't been giving his all to his hockey career; he's been partying too much, and it's affecting his game play, so his team hires a life coach to get him back on track. Aubrey is the life coach, and she's surprised to find out that her client is the guy she was drooling over at a party, but didn't exactly have a great experience with him. This is a bit of an enemies to lovers story, Aubrey and Brent have a major attraction towards each other, but since they got off on the wrong foot and it would be unprofessional to become involved with a client. I was back and forth on Aubrey, I thought she was too silly and immature to be a life coach, so she was bothering me at times. I get that some her antics were suppose to be comical, but she came off as a pinch too ditzy. I liked Brent, he's sweet and fun. Brent and Aubrey are really cute together, and have nice chemistry, and they have some hot times. I like that they have more between them than just sex, and that they have fun together. I listened to the audio version of this book, and the narrator does a great job. She does both female and male voices, and she does a good job; she did make Brent sound a bit more lecherous than he was being at times though, lol, but overall, it was a good listening experience, so I'd recommend the audio. Destiny on Ice is a cute, fun story, and I look forward to reading the next books in this series; Aubrey's sestra (sister) (Love Orphan Black!) is going to be an interesting one! And reading about Brent's team mates meeting the women that bring them to their knees is something I will enjoy reading! Looking forward to more from SR Grey!

Team Braubrey!

What did you love best about Destiny on Ice?

The humor! This was a very funny sports rom com that had some truly laugh out loud moments!

What other book might you compare Destiny on Ice to and why?

I think Destiny on Ice is similar to Serena Bowen and Elle Kennedy's WAGs series. It's part sports romance and part romantic comedy.

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the scene where the team was in Chicago for a game and Brent overheard Aubrey's phone call. Brent trying to figure out who Al was and his explanations for the role Al played in Aubrey and her sister's lives was hilarious! I had the same reaction as Aubrey when the truth was revealed!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I definitely laughed a lot! No tears though, since it was a pretty lighthearted and easy story. Probably the most emotional part had to do with Brent's family, rather than his relationship with Aubrey.

Any additional comments?

I normally really enjoy Tracy Marks narration, but this time I wasn't a huge fan of her male voices. There was just something off about the tone for me. It almost felt like she was trying too hard to make her voice masculine/deep. It didn't detract from the story, but I definitely preferred her Aubrey chapters.

The Hockey Hunk and The Life Coach

Sexy hockey star Brent Oliver has been hitting the bottle too hard. Truly living life to the most reckless. Enter Aubrey the take no prisoners life coach. After their less than professional meeting the pair come to a truce ladled with sexual tension. Their work relationship prevents a relationship but 2 hot people, a glow in the dark vibrator and a jealousy inducing teddy bear make that difficult.

Just a really fun listen. The narration is fantastic.

A romantic comedy that is fun to listen to.

Brent is a typical hot shot who thinks his drinking and loose lifestyle does not effect his game. Aubrey is sent to get him back on track to be the captain he is supposed to be and lead the team right. Only they have met before and sparks are flying everywhere and in green too!

I have not laughed so hard at a story in a long time. I loved this book from beginning to end. It is not a typical romance. It is a hysterical one, filled with trials and heart breaks and so much fun.

Traci Marks is a great narrator. She helped bring the characters, and their romance to life. She was easy to listen to. Her different pitches helped keep the characters separate and made the story easy and FUN to follow.

Wow!!! What a story!

S.R. Grey is a new author to me and I am so glad that I found her! I am definitely a fan. I loved the humor and steam she writes into her books. Tracy Marks is the perfect narrator for this book. She is able to perform so many different characters with distinguishable voices. Having grown up enjoying hockey, I found this book so delightful! This is the first book that I have listened to featuring a hockey player and a life coach. I thought that this enemies to lovers story was so well written. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was given this audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. The love story of Brent and Aubrey is a standalone listen and part of a series. I definitely hope that the next book in the series comes out on audio as that is the story of Nolan and Lainey (Aubrey's sister). This book is worth a credit and listening to again. I will definitely be buying more books by this author and those performed by the narrator.

5/5

Destiny on Ice is the second book I've read by S.R. Grey. The combination of steam and heat make this epic love story enjoyable and engrossing. The forbidden aspect of their love adds another level of suspense to this story. I enjoyed Brent and Aubrey's and look forward to reading more the Boys of Winter's stories. Destiney on Ice is a great start to this hockey romance series the introduction of several more hot hockey players and (hopefully) a hint of what's to come.

I received this audiobook for free from Audiobook Obsessions. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Hockey Player + Life Coach & Area 51

Destiny on Ice (Boys of Winter Book 1) is a sports romance/romantic comedy with a fun twist. I actually started listening to this series at book five so I already met Brent & Aubrey and fell in love with them already. But, now I got to go back to the beginning and see how they first met. Brent Oliver & Aubrey Shelburne begin with cute banter. A enemies to lovers with a forbidden romance aspect entangled within the pages. Author S. R. Grey writes fun, humorous, tales with a sports romance aspect, the writing style is light and entertaining. I absolutely loved the reference to area 51, clever and hilarious. Supporting character's accentuated the narrative. I adored the characters and narrative. I'm looking forward to listening to book two which is supporting character Nolan and Aubrey's sister Lainey.

Narator Tracy Marks just didn't fit the characters in this performance in my opinion. I've listened to her naration before, and enjoyed it very much. The vibes I get from her are she fits better with suspenseful/serious listens rather than comedic ones. Her accent is all Eastern New England English which is famous for non-rhoticity, meaning it drops the r sound everywhere except before a vowel and it just didn't fit the narrative in my opinion.

Overall a cheering listen.

great

Audiobook Obsession Reviewer

Aubrey is a life coach to stars. Brent is a hockey player, who parties too much and had lost his drive. Brent ends up being Aubrey's new client, bit shocker to them they've met before, a drunken one night stand. Will that night make working together hard? Will Brent find his drive again?
