    Description

When a NASA satellite discovers an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory, a victory with profound implications for NASA policy and the impending presidential election. To verify the authenticity of the find, the White House calls upon the skills of intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton. Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic scholar Michael Tolland, Rachel travels to the Arctic and uncovers the unthinkable: evidence of scientific trickery: a bold deception that threatens to plunge the world into controversy. But before she can warn the President, Rachel and Michael are ambushed by a deadly team of assassins. Fleeing for their lives across a desolate and lethal landscape, their only hope for survival is to discover who is behind this masterful plot. The truth, they will learn, is the most shocking deception of all.

"Brown moves into new territory with his latest. It's an excellent thriller: a big yet believable story unfolding at breakneck pace, with convincing settings and just the right blend of likable and hateful characters. He's also done his research, folding in sophisticated scientific and military details that make his plot far more fulfilling than the norm." ( Publishers Weekly)
"A dazzling high-tech adventure...With this latest story, Brown proves once again that he is among the most intelligent and dynamic of authors in the thriller genre." ( Library Journal)
"This is pretty exciting stuff...and Brown certainly does have a knack for spinning a suspenseful yarn." ( Booklist)

    great stuff

It doesn't matter if you are a scientist, mathemetician or a NASA expert, this book is grest stuff. The plot thickens with every twist and turn at each venue. I like the way , the author changes venues every chapter and keeps us in suspense. This book is a non-putdownable and I finished it in one sitting. This makes it a winner when you can't even wait to see whats coming next.

Don't waste your time with this abridgment

The abridgment (like most I find) cuts out all but the central plot line removing all the detial and nuance that make this book like The Da Vinci Code thrilling and interesting.

Hold out and maybe they will give us an unabridged version.

    Excellent

Excellent story with great narration. Could not stop listening. Dan Brown has a gift for creating immersing stories, and this book does not let down. However, about three or four times the volume dipped and twice there is a 15-30 second break between narration. The abridged version gets the story done, but I would suggest going with the unabridged for 2 reasons: (1) The volume dips and long breaks can take you away from the story, and (2) The story is so good you will want to hear every detail that isn't included in this version.

    Get this book!

I've read (listened to) three other books by Dan Brown ("Digital Fortress", "Angels and Demons", and "The Da Vinci Code") and have enjoyed them all. "Deception Point" is no exception!

In typical Dan Brown style, he uses science to make things believable and interesting. This story is faced-paced and has several sub-plots working together until they come to a very satisfying end.

The identity of the villain (or "Controller") will surprise you, and the ending is so poetic. Just when you think the heroes are doomed to meet their end, Dan writes up something that helps them get away from the bad guys in one piece, and does it in a way that doesn't cause you to say, "Oh, come on!"

The narrator is outstanding, by the way. His deep, rich voice comes across clearly, keeps things moving, and doesn't get in the way like other books I've listened to. If I saw another book that he narrated, I probably get it just because of that fact.

This is a good read. Get this book!

    Great Story, Told So So

This story is packed with adventure and intrigue, but not told as well as it could have been. The Protector by David Morrell is a similar type story told EXTREMELY well. I don't know how badly the abridgement affected the writing. Who knows, it may have IMPROVED it!

    Still worth reading.

    Needs to be unabridged

The plot was dumb and thin. Being rescued by a submarine from an iceberg is insane! Mabye it would be more believable if it was not abridged.

    ICE BULLETS.

Yes. That is the super genius way an assassin hit team is going to kill people. With ice bullets. AND NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW IT WAS MURDER!

    Great Listen!

This is another one of Brown's hits. I enjoyed it immensely because of the narrator's reading talent and the suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

WOW I haven't listened to Dan Brown in a while. Excellent plausible plot. You can really see the possibility of the story line.I didn't want to get out of my car!Rarely do I rate titles but when this book ended I knew I had to.

Good story, exciting. appropriately named. the narrator was a bit stiff sounding, but had a pleasant enough voice. Good story
