Dick Powell (movie star, singer, turned film director) says we're going to scout Cuba as a possible location for the script I wrote. I remind him there's a revolution in progress and Castro has been kidnapping celebrities for ransom. "Afraid?" he challenges. "No," I reply. " But if he snatches you, I'll be grabbed too so here's the deal: I stay on salary and Fox gets first refusal of anything I write about it."
Thus begins Crooning by Frank D. Gilroy, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, award-winning filmmaker, novelist and author of two previous best-selling Kindle Singles: Lake and Private.

Set in Cuba during the revolution, Crooning follows the mad journey of a Hollywood director and his entourage, bent on finding the perfect location for his new film. Meanwhile, the revolution is in full swing and Fidel Castro has taken an interest in the project! Hilarious and exciting, Crooning is a fast-paced piece of lighthearted historical fancy. J. Paul Guimont's performance of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Gilroy's story is charismatic and witty. His rendition of absurd characters like Dick Powell is enough to bring a smile to any listener's ears.
