Description

Tess O'Rourke dreams of becoming the first female chief of police in Long Beach, California. As commander of the East Division, she is well on her way...until the night she responds to an officer-needs-assistance call and fatally shoots an unarmed teenager. Despite being cleared of wrongdoing by a grand jury, Tess is so hounded by the public that she takes a job in Oregon to escape the bad press.

Winning over the residents of Rogue's Hollow might be more difficult than adjusting to her new role as police chief in the small backwater town - especially when her closest friend, the pastor's wife, goes missing and the woman's cousin is found shot. Tess finds an ally in sheriff's deputy Steve Logan, but as they track down Rogue's Hollow's first murderer, she worries that she's breaking one of her rules and getting too close to him.

terrific Christian book!

Ms. Cantore is a new Christian author to audible as far as I know. While there are references to God..the book is not preachy. Rather it is going through cases that are related. It held my attention all the way through as the lady policeman was working to desperately solve the cases she was working. I thoroughly enjoyed the in(s) and out(s) as she tries to solve the cases she has. I couldn't recommed this book highly enough!! I sure hope audible will produce more of her books for those who are visually impaired like me or who just enjoy listening to audio books! !!!

About Ppl in Blue by 1 of Their Own in Blue

Excellent book & excellent narration! While not "preachy" this is still a Christian Fic Mystery. Clean story that kept my interest from beginning to end. Out of audios of late, I rate this as a 10 out of 5 stars. A story I will enjoy listening to again. If you like Dee Henderson's older Honor series, I believe you'll also enjoy this. But I'll let you have the pleasure of deciding. Well worth my credit!

Authentic and Honest

It is great to read about honest characters, timely and realistic situations with quality and creativity. Janice Cantore has a great style that excites and entertains. The truth in the story is the public does not know all the particulars in a case, just what is reported - to make a staunch judgement based on that limited information is foolish and dangerous. This is one of those writers that I will buy without hesitation - I do listen to the narrator sample first. I have to say, Alice Anne English is one of the best.
Thanks again for a great read!

Enjoyable mystery with exciting twists and turns.

This book was full of twists and turns, keeping the reader turning pages. It stars a female police officer trying to deal with unfair media and accusations, while trying to do a good, fair job. An excellent book, presented extremely well. Read it yourself and see if you, too, agree with my review!

Interesting with good plot.

It was worth the listen though some parts just a tad unrealistic...cop amd pastor entering armed situation even though he was ledt sitting in car? Just her going in...just a few details that I found a bit stretched but overall very good.

What a sad reminder of the lack of our prayers

Thank you Janice for this stunning story, may God bless you, and all your policemen in the USA. We live in South Africa, where policemen get slaughter wholesale, along with hundreds of farmers, and many white peoples, although they slaughter their own as well. Thank you for the reminder that we need to pray for these people who try protect us ( if they are not corrupt, like so many here in South Africa)

No where near what I was expecting

I don’t expect that every book written by a Christian writer is going to be full of Christian people nor do I expect that there will always be someone come to believe in Christ. I do however expect that when you have a main character that uncertain of God, that there would be a bit more guidance esp by a pastor. That guidance doesn’t have to be preachy.

I never got to a point where I liked the characters, basically I had no feeling at all. There where too many storylines going on that the other characters never got established.

I did not care for the narrator at all. Some of the voices were just badly done. About halfway through I turn the narration speed to 1.5, so that I could get through the book.

I will bypass this author in the future.
