Cheryl Belzer is starting a new job, working for the best private detective in the city who retired from the police department after suffering a horrific injury. He also just happens to be a self-proclaimed sexist. These stories follow two of the earliest cases Cheryl works with Timber.
In "Stalemate", the duo must determine how a college freshman with very little experience playing chess can play a world master to a draw. There is more than money at stake as the Champion seeks justice.
"Sentiments" gives us a glimpse into the softer side of Timber as they search for a missing person. All they have are a bunch of receipts and a checkbook with odd entries and a bank account that has been closed for more than a year. Not much to go on, but Timber and Belzer are on the case.
