    Description

Clutch player: an athlete who is good under pressure and performs highly impossible plays in a quick and almost impossible amount of time.

    Harper

I fell in love when I was 16. Landon was my entire world, and I thought he would be my forever. But I was young and dumb, and with one error in judgement, I destroyed any chance of a future we could’ve had together, along with our hearts.

Twelve years later and I’m going through the motions of life but not actually living. Which is why I let my friends, Bridget and Simon, set me up on a blind date. Turns out, it’s not so blind after all. Because the man sitting in front of me is the same man who’s held onto my heart all these years.

    Landon

They call me a clutch player because I’m good under pressure and quick on my feet. I was also quick to fall in love. The first time it was with baseball, the second was with Harper. And for a short time I had them both.

Until I lost Harper and all I had left was baseball.

For years, I focused on my career. I had accepted that baseball was my one true love.

Until I saw her again. I never imagined we’d ever get a second chance, but now that she’s sitting right across from me, I know there’s no way in hell I’m going to let her go again.

    SWOON❤️

Oh my Landon....you have STOLE MY HEART!!!!❤️❤️❤️ Harper and Landon have taken the cake for my favorite Nikki Ash couple🙌🏻 I could not put this book down. This story had me so engrossed from the time they were teenagers...Landon totally had me SWOONING! To what tore them apart, to the future. I just loved how much Landon loved...how big of a heart he had throughout the entire story. And Harper reasoning behind her choices...I definitely felt for her. ❤️ Be prepared to be in all your feels from start to finish! This is surely a book to read over and over again.

    Second Chance at forever

Landon & Harper’s story is in 2 parts. The author spent a lot of time on their teen years, which I enjoyed-I love to watch what happens in their earlier times & see how the characters develop. The second half was brilliant, both with the characters, plot, & narration. I found Tim Paige’s narration of the adults great, the voices of the children less so. Loved the revelations at the end!

2nd half is better than the 1st half

I did not care for the beginning of the book. I almost stopped listening. It did get better. The narrators were not my favorites as well. They were ok when talking in the 1st person, but when they tried to do other voices it wasn't great. The story did have some good surprises and twists to it. I am glad I finished it, but you have to make it through the beginning and get past the voices.

    Harper 🙄

Harper has to be one of the simplest characters ever. She has no spine or original thoughts of her own. She was peer pressured into any and everything. I’m barely 3 hours in and contemplating stopping. She was peer pressured into sneaking out the house doing something she didn’t want to, drinking alcohol resulting in sleeping with someone she didn’t want to & getting drugged, and finally marrying the fool she didn’t even like. She doesn’t even deserve Landon. She better be the one begging to get back with him & not the other way around.

    Overall 3.75 STARS

Sweet, swoonworthy and heartbreaking. The story starts off in high school where the two main characters meet. The heroine is super accident prone and while at times it was endearing it was a little over done. The hero is perfect and he really cares for the heroine. Some of the drama I found a little over the top but overall it was a cute story.

Narration was great, both narrators did a great job with all the characters.

    Trigger Warning Missing

It is unfortunate to see that a trigger warning was not added to this book. What happened to her was rape. I read until the end with the hope that this would be addressed and, unfortunately, that was not the case.

    Seriously!!!

She definitely does not deserve him. The heroine is in her 30's and still allows herself to be peer pressured like she is in high school and CAN'T think for herself. I really wish I could rewrite this story and give the hero someone more deserving.

Only the end is worth reading

The first half of this book is complete YA. The writer took 10 chapters to give you the background for the main characters while they were in high school. If I wanted to read a YA novel this wouldn’t be it. Harper the female lead is and remains ridiculously pathetic from beginning to end. You root, at the end, for an HEA because Landon, the male lead, is so wonderful you want him to be happy.

Harper essentially screws everything up by going along with her high school friend enemy who drugs her resulting in her sleeping with her ex and getting pregnant. See that didn’t take 10 chapters. She makes wrong decisions by making even worse ones. You end up disliking Harper. If you hate the female lead can you even call it a romance.

This writer should not be associated with Keeland/Ward’s writing. She doesn’t have the finesse to make her main characters sympathetic without making them pathetic. Once you cross that line it’s hard to view the main character as anything other than weak, naïve and ridiculous.

The positive is, the end of the book is much better than the beginning. Which is not saying a lot but I did finish it and enjoyed the ending.

    Narration was ok.

    Great second chance romance

Sometimes you've got to say goodbye and let go. Others, you're so connected that the universe and some nosy push friends help you find your way back together. A wonderful addition to the series.

    I definitely enjoyed this one!

    4.5 Stars overall!

This was surprisingly good and it kept my interest throughout. The first several chapters are set in the high school years and, while good, the present was significantly better. There is descriptive sex which mostly enhance the story. They could have been one or two less scenes but it wasn't a deal breaker. I took away a half-star as the inner dialog got overwhelming a few times.
